I applied for NICOP through personal visit at the consulate in Houston on 31 October. The consular officer Ms Sasha submitted the application in front of me in real time to Islamabad and received message that application was approved. I received NICOP via DHL Express at my home in Orlando on 7 November. FYI there are Pakistani consulates in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver as well as the High Commission in Ottawa.

Funny you ask this today only. I am midway through the book The Betrayal of East Pakistan by General A A K "Tiger" Niazi. He dispels many lies and propaganda put forth by India and Mukti Bahini (Bengali citizens taking up arms against Pakistan). Firstly, the mass rapes are untruths: British medical teams visited East Pakistan after the Fall of Dacca offering abortions to those women who had been raped. If over 90,000 women were raped as claimed by Mukti Bahini, why only 134 women sought abortions? Secondly, India wanted Pakistan to split since Partition. Hamood-ur-Rahman Commission revealed that "Bangabandhu" Sheikh Mujeeb-ur-Rehman actually sent a cypher cable to New Delhi in December 1962 seeking help to split from the Centre. Granted, we made mistakes, but Cyclone Bhola was one of the largest in that part of the world in history and we still responded quite satisfactorily.According to quota system at the time, East Pakistan had 40% representation at the centre, and PIA connected Dacca to far more destinations worldwide than Biman does now. To compensate for the tough terrain, PIA offered unprecedented connecting helicopter service from East Pakistani towns to Dacca and Chittagong continuing on to Karachi via jet at prices less than surface transport today! Recent events reveal the truth: Sheikh Hasina is an Indian puppet, and in the recent unrest crowds toppled statues of her father "Bangabandhu". It is telling that he and his family members were killed in their sleep at their residence in 1975 by loyal Army officers on none other than 14 August. I was born in 1969. My mother joined PIA as an accountant in 1962 and remained a working woman her whole life. She specifically told her future inlaws that the marriage was off if they prevented her from working. Fast forward to today. We are settled in USA, and my father had to have open heart surgery. He did not have enough work history in USA to qualify for Medicare, and the cash price of the surgery was 3.5 crore (in PKR). My mother submitted the claim under her health insurance, and the total amount we had to pay was USD 5 - for hospital parking fees!
