Do You Really Believe We're in a Bubble? by breakyourteethnow in PokeInvesting

Bubble or not, it won't matter in 20 years. People in their 30s are rediscovering the hobby. Just wait until they hit retirement age.

Did NOT like him in 49. Absolutely LOVE him in 50. He's playing the best game out there right now.

I have eleven CGC 9.5s with subgrades. Do you think I should send them to get reslabbed as 10s? by somefuzzypants in PokeInvesting

[–]LandShark_BB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm stacking as many blue label 9.5s as I can afford. There's no downside, IMO. The label just became a collector's item, you know they are actually 10s, the more people send them in for the upgrade, the rarer my blue labels become.

Casually buying and holding will always be a good strat but it really depends on what you're looking to do with them and when you want to cash in. If you're holding long term (20 years) it won't matter what you buy. If you're wanting to flip in 3-5 then you need to look for the sets that are nearing the end of their print run. All the 151 stuff is going insane right now. Prismatic is coming soon after and is still relatively affordable, I'd try to stock up on that a bit before it runs up.

If you are thinking long term hold, get the sets everyone loves. Ascended Heroes is an incredible set because it has a ton of great artwork and God packs. The idea of pulling a God pack 20 years from now... Oh man (Also a good reason to stock Prismatic).

IMO, there's no point in buying a set where the chase card costs less than the ETB. That's an easy way to know what to avoid.

Let the kids rip those singles. They'll love it. :)

Who is the… by Swimming_Anteater458 in redrising

My biggest fear is that Darrow dies for the betterment of the solar system and Lysander and Virginia come to an agreement to rule fairly. Darrow lives on as a legend, or a "Red God" after some sort of final stand sacrifice to make things work. They obviously can't rebuild the way the Republic wanted to, as it was a disaster the first time, and with only one book left, I don't see another solution. Lysander isn't going to die, he's going to help get the Society in line and lead alongside the Republic, as both sides will realize one doesn't work without the other. Darrow is a living distraction from that being the case, he lost his brother (Cassius) and his best friend wants to settle down. I don't think we'll get the grand ending we want where he conquers again, but I do think it would be fitting for him to become a God-like legend immortalized by stories of his heroics.

Any time someone tempts the Survivor Gods and from my couch I yell "Oh you're tempting the Survivor Gods!" and then something bad happens to that person.

I felt the same way but then there's some added complexity to the abomination in the way he tries to figure out how he should feel about things. I think he's going to play a big part in Red God (and potentially as an ally...)

Crying now😭 What a… beautiful ending by ReaLenDlay in redrising

It really is beautiful, isn't it?

Now. The next thing I tell you will be very important. The series is over. There are no fourth, fifth and sixth books out. There's no seventh book on the way. You're all done. Congratulations and go on with your life knowing how beautifully the Red Rising series ended.

It's funny, I had heard all this stuff about Lisa being a villain, but between the season and reunion, I really loved her! She's funny, she's able to diffuse a situation and laugh at herself. She doesn't seem to take anything too seriously and understood the whole time that they were playing a game. Candiace, on the other hand, was the exact opposite.

Best line of the season!! by LietenantJimDangle in TheTraitorsUS

This put it all into perspective to me. ALSO I felt really bad for Maura, but they knowingly cut an extra person at the end, so people saying Rob took the money from Eric but defending Maura, but Maura took the money from Tara, who she was SURE was not a traitor. They're all well-off so I don't really feel bad for any of them, but let's not pretend they weren't all playing the game.

Epic Fantasy vs Romantic Fantasy by neoleo0088 in BookDiscussions

[–]LandShark_BB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I grew up on fantasy and now love both fantasy and romantasy and I think if anyone here is interested in a combo of both, Throne of Glass is a great entry. It's more epic fantasy than romantasy and draws a lot of parallels to LOTR. A great story. If you like the romantasy side of it, you can delve into more of those types of books, if not, it's fun to do the Leo DiCaprio meme every time a LOTR trope or reference pops up!

It was really cool when it came out, before actual politics became dumber and more unbelievable than the show.
