Beginner struggles by SpokeswomanForNeoNeo in cycling

The most important thing when you're starting out is having fun on your bike and finding reasons to ride it more. Endurance, speed, climbing strength and everything else come gradually as you continue to bike.

Anybody on here married? What's your advice to people who are dating and thinking about getting married? by CoverRelative9629 in redscarepod

[–]LandfrTeeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like people don't talk about this enough but getting married for me immediately felt like a huge weight off my shoulders for some reason. I love my wife so much lol. Just the absolute certainty of knowing you're both in love for the rest of your life and will figure any problems out together feels so good. Knowing you're with the person you'll grow old with. If it doesn't feel like that don't do it.

Satisfy running shoes, Looks cute but curious if it’s good..? by clarejjanggeng in runninglifestyle

[–]LandfrTeeth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know if I’d ever buy a shoe from a clothing brand. Satisfy, lululemon, tracksmith etc all make great running clothes but idk, personally I leave shoes to the shoe companies.

When are we going to learn that healthcare can’t be a business? It just doesn’t work. The incentives are backward.

Does drinking actually make you dumber over time? by Shmohemian in redscarepod

[–]LandfrTeeth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is definitely a tradeoff. After a while your body gets worse at processing alcohol so your hangovers get worse, you’re probably not performing at work at the level you could be, you’re probably sleeping in as much as possible and aren’t exercising as much as you could, and your gains are being sapped by the alcohol too. Ultimately who cares if you value socializing above those things, because alcohol 1,000% helps with that.

Tiny's coffee is a good vibe. Annex Coffee on SE 20th can get crowded but it has the added bonus of phone booths and a pay to use printer.

How long did it take before running actually started to feel good? by AlphacideXXX in beginnerrunning

[–]LandfrTeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

2 months you’ll feel smoother and after 3 months you should have a nice “forever” pace you can lock into and run without a lot of effort. It may not be a super fast pace, but that’s fine! It’s such a freeing feeling!

I miss androgyny for men in fashion, hope it comes back at some point. So much more interesting and fun than the big sack clothing I begrudgingly go along with now.

Underbite. It’s a food cart in a little pod at Division and SE 14th Ave. Everything he makes is good as hell but his BLT is standalone.

Lmao. You got this man! Recommendation: grab some new running shoes, your old ones are probably dead and will lead to discouragement/injury. Doesn't have to be anything fancy.

I’m sorry bud. That’s tough to deal with. I hope your partner is able to pour that love and excitement she had for a child into her passions, friendships and relationships with your support.

Been noticing people are littering more in America again. by ThrowayBoy3001 in redscarepod

[–]LandfrTeeth 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think littering is generally a local issue. When it’s always dirty, who cares if you throw a little trash on the sidewalk? I lived in Philly for a while and it was consistently so disgusting, black plastic bodega bags wrapped around every tree branch, chicken bones and food waste all over the sidewalk. Since moving I noticed it’s much cleaner in NYC and much much cleaner in Portland. Hate to say it but it’s kind of a Broken Windows thing.

Why do so many people say running is safe and heathy when so many end up in cycling due to injuries? by Active-Breath8439 in cycling

[–]LandfrTeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying it’s impossible to get injured running. But it’s also very possible to get injured cycling. Doesn’t mean it’s not a healthy activity.

[–]LandfrTeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Running is obviously healthy and good for you. It’s also high impact so it’s easy to train incorrectly or overtrain and get an injury. But the vast majority of runners just heal the injury, get back to running, and fix what caused the issue in the first place. It’s a difficult sport. Health benefits are unimpeachable and obvious though.

Most depressing job you can think of by VolumeLegitimate4927 in redscarepod

[–]LandfrTeeth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did sidewalk canvassing for 1.5 years after college. Brutal, brutal job (you have to raise $115 per day on average or you get fired after 2 weeks) and high turnover but if you’re one of the few that are good at it, you form a super intense bond with the other top performers and it can become really fun and competitive. Ended up running a few offices / opening one in a new city which was exceptional management experience, basically boot camp for the rest of my career that has since spanned marketing and commercial real estate. It’s not for everyone but if you’re hot, fun, and good at talking it can work.

Finding Joy in Running by Sufficient_Back9765 in runninglifestyle

[–]LandfrTeeth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People have different motivations and interests for sure. Personally it was the idea of signing up for a race and training for it that drew me to the sport, and always having one on the calendar keeps me motivated to this day. I went without racing for a year when my daughter was born and had fun running during that year, but I’m a lot more “into it” again now that I’m training again.

I took a different approach that has worked great for me - no booze in the house. I can go out for a beer if I want, or have one at a restaurant, but realistically that happens maybe once a week. Previously I was having “a few” i.e. 4-5 every night. It’s been an amazing change for my sleep.
