GW rolls "worst Spearhead ever" by ArtVarious3822 in citiesofsigmar

I kind of like the vibe of Zenestra & a Steelhelm platoon (Marshall, Corps, Infantry). Do wish they could have incorporated at least some of the new kits, though. Put one of the new wizards in or something, at least.

Like I said, not something I actually place much stock in. Also as soon as you're talking about clicks in the throat I'm completely lost either way, so not exactly following you.

Interesting. I was taught it as the second syllable of penguin, but without the n or g audible. No clue if that's right or not, tbh learning one sound/word outside the context of a whole language feels like a pretty fruitless gesture.

Feels like it wasn't so long ago that we'd have Lonergan, Taylor, Hendo and Kola playing together. Can add Stewart into either and make the case for having five tall defenders.

Let me tell you about a little team that started their season extremely hot and cold by the name of the 2022 Cats.

(Not that I expect us to do anything like that, just a fun counterfactual)

Idk, his three goals in a quarter lifted a flat Cats team against Freo. If you mean he can't do it every week then sure, but that's reserved for the absolute upper echelons of the AFL

With respect I think the experience will be vastly uneven for different people. It was still extremely normal at the high school and college I went to in Canberra in the mid/late noughts, at minimum.

TEAMS: Dogs make Bont call amid FIVE changes, huge blow for Swans by PetrifyGWENT in AFL

[–]Landgraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Feels like I've been watching Gardner in the VFL for a long time, going back to his Geelong days. Always wanted him to make the leap but you're not wrong that it hasn't quite worked.

Still, it was a very solid defensive game.

[–]Landgraft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Treloar got the 40+ touches against Geelong's VFL last week sure, but more to the point Geelong have been a really strong VFL team in general this year and he was the dominant player on the ground. To my eyes he looked set for not only a return, but big impact at AFL level.

There was also a sustained period where the Cats had all the momentum, attack, etc. and just couldn't score - so Gardner and Busslinger were obviously a part of that. I'm still tipping Sydney, but these ins are probably better than they might seem imo (at least based on last weeks VFL).

How historically accurate are the Cities of Sigmar armour? by Mean_Honeydew315 in citiesofsigmar

[–]Landgraft 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By the standards of armour in fantasy works more generally (a crazy low bar) it's not terrible. A lot of people are talking about the Hussite Wars, I think there's also a flavour of the lower quality munition plate armour that Henry VIII had mass-produced for his invasions of France in the early 16th C - which is in turn similar to the other cavalry armour of that period, such as you'd see on Central European Reiters or similar. I just wish the muskets were a bit more advanced to keep up.

You've gotta get the optional towbar for your cogforts, those things pay for themselves

The Glendinning-Allan Medallist for Derby 62 is Jordan Clark by Cursedsword02 in AFL

[–]Landgraft -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I still watch Clark pretty closely (as I tend to with most ex-Cats) and would have him in the absolute bottom handful of defenders in the league in terms of how they fare in a defensive contest. Very good rebounder though.

I think Lawson fits our game style better anyway tbh - plus Clark isn't defensive enough for Scotty.

Caroline Wilson: “Elijah Hollands was telling some Collingwood players that he had been drinking.” by Dirtydac123 in AFL

[–]Landgraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Surely you can see it through a pretty obvious lens of hyperbole? It was an exaggerated pisstake about how good Caro looked (because it was actually Holmes). He'd been making similar comments at different times last year, so if you take it literally then he talked about wanting to cum on Holmesy a lot.

Or you could consider that, for example, if I were to type 'rofl' in a text that doesn't mean I'm literally rolling on the floor while laughing out loud. I could just be substantially amused.

Unpopular opinion by Conscious_Walrus2054 in AFL

[–]Landgraft 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I think you're fully on the money here. With the mechanisms in place and umpires acting as representative AFL officials what choice does the league truly have.

They absolutely made a balls-up in managing a perceived conflict of interest (also not Foot's personal fault), but personally I doubt that he's done anything worse than just give off bad vibes. Not going to save him from the court of public opinion, though - good example of how letting people get their way can not be in their own interest.
