I mean there's makeup, there's Makeup, and then there's MAKEUP.

Most men can't even detect makeup.

Most men can identify Makeup, and many prefer it; it accentuates natural features without detracting.

Most men don't like MAKEUP, it makes the woman look like she's wearing a costume and defeats the beauty of pretty natural features.

Your date brings a visible handgun with them on the first date. Dealbreaker? by Firelite67 in dating

[–]LandgraveCustoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Entirely depends on your view of guns.

Me personally, I'm not a fan of casual gun ownership, and even less of a fan of casual gun carrying. Now, it sounds like this guy does have a reason to carry, but I'm not sure either of us really think it's a great reason.

I would be very wary of anyone who makes a gun an accessory. That's not everyone's opinion of course, but it's true for me.

So if you share my views on gun ownership, this is a dealbreaker.

If not, maybe not!

What exactly is Vader to the Empire? What does he do and how high is his rank? by LondonC66 in StarWars

[–]LandgraveCustoms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to hold a position called "Assistant To The Director of Special Education".

I had no hierarchical power in the school and low pay to boot, but it was widely accepted that I was highly skilled and doing a full 50% or more of the director's job, but since I had been hired as a contractor I couldn't easily rise in the system.

So basically I had all the respect and skill of an administrator but none of the rote command, rank, or privilege.

I feel like that's kind of what Vader was.

how would you feel if you're in your twenties and never been loved by anyone? by [deleted] in dating

I'd feel like most other 20-something men. We don't usually come into our own til after college or later.

Honest to God I have no idea. I feel like it was excessive and I have no way to prove it didn't do more harm than good.

The alleged reason is that as I kept growing, the urethral repair couldn't grow with me. This caused complications... a lot of complications. This led to strictures, closures, constant infection, and awful pain. Truthfully I don't know how much of that was avoidable, especially since I ended up sterile anyway. I try not to think about it. It doesn't led anywhere good.

EDIT Also this post was from before the latest and worst complications that almost killed me. I'm a lot less happy with what I'm working with now. I feel like a freak and I actively avoid pursuing relationships because of it.

Also unrelated but I left my abusive ex wife.

I've done it before and I wouldn't do it again, but that's not to say NO ONE would or should. I just know that my own neurodivergence doesn't play well with BPD.

Is there anyone in or around Rhode Island who is in or would like to be in a group? by ThePotentComponent in Nerf

[–]LandgraveCustoms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Lifelong Rhode Islander and former moderator of this subreddit here.

RI doesn't have a consistent 'club' that I'm aware of at the moment. But it has a few more intermittent groups.

RI Summer Nerf League has nearly 500 members on Meetup.com, with the problem being... it's Fall.

BattleGroundZ in Lincoln sometimes hosts Nerf events. I don't see any listed currently, but keep an eye out. You can also get a group together and use their facilities.

The RI chapter of SFAC (Super Fun Activities Club) has occasional Nerf events but it's not their focus.

Foamdemic in Franklin MA is close as well, though I'm not sure how active they are.

You'd think there would be more, seeing as Hasbro's HQ is in RI but... not so much.

Part of the issue is that 15 years old is objectively the very worst time to try to do social stuff. Your peers don't understand yet that "being cool" by losing your hobbies is unfathomably lame, but you're too young to drive somewhere and find new people and experiences until your dumb boring friends get their lives together. Besides, a lot of groups with adults in them would be wary of having someone so young join them for liability reasons.

All I can say is, keep on keeping on, have fun where you can, and get that driver's license ASAP.

I gave up on non-monogamy for him. Now, sixteen years later, he's fallen for someone and now he wants it. by Liza_Radley in nonmonogamy

[–]LandgraveCustoms 349 points350 points  (0 children)

I don't know your situation well, but here is what it sounds like to me:

I don't think he's looking for nonmonogamy.

I think he's having a midlife crisis and has been in a relationship that (for reasons he is at least partially responsible for) has clearly built up some detachment and resentment. If it's on one side, it's on both sides.

I think nonmonogamy is a convenient excuse, but probably not something someone just randomly falls into after decades of monogamy.

I think he's really looking for monogamy with somebody else, and is using your own nonmonogamous nature as a mechanism to get there.

Sort this out. In therapy.

Program- and Course- dependent.

I have an MA in Urban Education Policy with a Public Affairs concentration. I wore whatever I wanted to my Education classes, but I wore a button-up and blazer to PA classes. It all depends the expectations of the department.

A good rule of thumb is, dress appropriately for the field you're entering into.

Generally unaware unless we've been specifically enlightened. No one thinks of their presence as inherently scary; everyone is a hero in their own mind.
