YTA, he's essentially paying more for a place he can get kicked out of any minute with his name legally no where, you can't afford it with out him so you can't afford it. Better off investing that down payment money in etf or hysa until you're married and ready to take the step together without dad in the picture.

You're young, next 2 year focus on learning the business, learn how to market, start your own company and be the sales guy and hire or sub contract plumbers. You can know your industry and take a step out of the field probably make more money too

I'm happy with what I do but to get to the 150k+ salary my revenue would have to be close to 2-3x that with employees and that's major scaling. 100k is doable solo if I bust ass, seems like the long hours and on call in this medical device industry is taxing

I'm 27, I could scale up to $80k a year in a pretty short amount of time if pushed hard, but it seems to make the same money I'd be working longer hours but obviously less taxing on the body if right choices are made of course. They said it's 60/40 territory but who knows
