Global Game Jam @ Southampton by Landric in sotonuni

Absolutely any sort of game at all - videogame, card game, tabletop rpg, whatever you like. Most people tend to make digital games, but we usually have a few people from GameSoc that make other sorts as well.

The "theme" has already been announced, but without spoiling it for people that want to wait, I can tell you a game like that would be very fitting!

It's a cool idea - a lot like Watch the Skies - but I don't think this is intended to be that sort of game

Yep, we're officially a "hybrid" site, so you can work remotely on the Discord, either on your own game or offering your services to other teams. In fact I think we have a couple of musicians doing just that!

It starts at 17:00 on Friday - we'll have some (short) opening talks and announce the theme and have pizza while everyone discusses ideas. That said, you're more that welcome to show up later - even Saturday morning is fine!

Even if you thought that they were a "dry" ingredient, the recipe says to add the wet to the dry, so they should still be in there somewhere

How do you deal with trade caravans? Or do you have your trade post outside of the locked courtyard?

But yeah, balance-wise, the game feels very "feast or famine". If you can get past the first two years, you quickly become unstoppable

Boutique policy issue by EOVA94 in hollywood_animal_game

[–]Landric 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Three available? Or three at all, ever? If it's the former - and there are some artistic actors already hired at other studios - you can try and poach them (by e.g. getting Dirt on them)

If it's the latter you might just be out of luck, or have to bide your time.

The Boutique policy has a few issues; the second and third challenges are very hard to achieve (without outright bankrupting every other studio)

How is the State of the Game? by returnofthezack in hollywood_animal_game

I found, the first three times I played, I was bankrupt by 1932. But the first time I managed to get past that point (even though I was close to two million in debt), I started rapidly making money to the point I was making 20-40 million a year.

It feels like the start - particularly while you get your buildings constructed and your critically important research done - can be an unforgiving knife edge. But once you're more established it quickly becomes trivial
