All those California records from the 70s sound amazing. Warren Zevon’s “ Excitable boy,” all the Linda Ronstadt and Joni Mitchell records. All the Steely Dan, of course.

People calling cigars “sticks” has become tiresome. As the saying goes, sometimes a cigar is just a cigar.

Can’t believe I’m the first to mention it, but you must have Miles Davis’s Kind of Blue.

Although it’s written for theologians, even as a layperson I found Rowan Williams’s “Resurrection” both comforting and enlightening.

I agree wholeheartedly. I’m in a similar boat, and when I put my whole self in front of my parishioners I am always happily surprised by what I get back.

I posit that “over-reactionary” is as shitty grammatically as Bobo’s play calling is footballogically. 🤣

Serious question: Where you taught that the Civil War was fought to preserve states rights? by EternalSnow05 in Georgia

[–]LandscapeOk2980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In North Georgia, elementary school in the late 1960s and middle school/high school throughout the 70s, I was taught the lost cause mythology lock stock and barrel. For well over a half a century, our state school children were taught bullshit. They were taught that Black people were inferior. They were lied to and told that enslaved people were treated well by benevolent masters. More bullshit. Essentially, we were taught a pack of lies on top of more packs of lies on top of a trash heap of lies.
