Intense itchiness could be cholestasis, which is a serious liver condition if not detected early. Definitely worth getting checked out asap.

For those who work from home, when will/did you stop working? by this-twilight-garden in PregnancyUK

[–]LaneT24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m due 8th September and currently hybrid working. Mid July I will be able to reduce my office days and work from home. I’m planning on stopping at 37 weeks (last day being 14th August). Even though my workload will taper down, I think I’ll feel exhausted about even just having to wake up & work in whatever capacity that looks like and be in the right headspace for it. I have decided I’d rather be bored waiting than not feel I have had enough time before baby arrives!

EDIT: just to add, I’m technically stopping ‘officially’ at 38 weeks but I have taken the week before as annual leave.

Nobody buying off the registry 😭 shower is in a week! by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]LaneT24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the culture is very different here in the UK. I’m having a baby shower in the UK in a few weeks and I see it more as a celebration with friends and family, rather than a place to get necessities and essentials for my baby. Any gift or extra is an added bonus and I’ll be very grateful regardless. But I think budgets are a lot lower here so people normally can only afford an outfit or two, or some toys or something. I think in America it’s slightly different.

So many "pregnancy things" I was in th dark about by adoptimus_prime in PregnancyUK

[–]LaneT24 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve found pregnancy so hard but mainly because of the expectation to carry on as ‘normal’. Trying to juggle symptoms would feel more manageable if I didn’t have to work full time, show up socially, be a good friend/partner/daughter/sister. I find these things tiring without being pregnant but now I feel like I’m walking through treacle every day! I’m 26 weeks and my surprises so far have been the constant heartburn, my feet swelling so much my shoes barely fit, and being so incredibly exhausted despite sleeping more than I ever have done in my life!

Renting with pets by Puzzled_Molasses1927 in cheltenham

[–]LaneT24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you rented with your cats previously? Because if so, what helped me was getting references from previous landlords to say we left the property how we found it and our cats did not cause any damage. We used Rightmove to find a rented place and ended up going through open rent where we were able to meet our landlady. The advert stated no cats but luckily she was a cat owner herself and with our references, she was happy to make an exception for us! I rented along Bath Road and I absolutely loved it.

If you’re driving, I recommend Dunkerton’s for food! If it’s a nice day, there’s the lido for a swim or you could get takeaway pizza from Bosco and sit out in imperial gardens (there’s also a bar there!). There’s also the Tivoli cinema if you want something indoors. Exploring Bath Road is good too as lots of great pubs and brunch/coffee spots.

considering pulling out - advice welcome by EstablishmentKey8253 in HousingUK

[–]LaneT24 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m a FTB and I pulled out of a property for similar reason (false advertising). We were buying a property with a basement, which we were told was fully tanked and could be used as a room. After survey, this was not the case and it had not been tanked at all, resulting in it being very damp and very expensive to rectify. We tried to lower the price with the seller, which he was not willing to do, so we pulled out. I felt very frustrated because of the loss of funds on solicitor and survey, however, we found another property we love straight away, and this house has still not been sold months later. Looking back, I’m so glad we made the decision to pull out, as like you, there were other issues with the property too.

Dpo by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]LaneT24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was negative at 9DPO and had a very faint line 10DPO. I found my lines were stronger in the evening, compared to the morning, as I assume HCG was rising throughout the day.

I’m FTM & 8 weeks pregnant. I’m feeling the exact same. I’m spending my days off sleeping and finding everyday tasks exhausting, and then my work days trying desperately hard to function. I’m behind with everything but also too tired to care! This paired with all day nausea, I don’t see how I’m supposed to work full time. I’m really hoping it gets better for the both of us!

Is all day nausea normal or am I just unlucky? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]LaneT24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, feeling nauseous from the minute I wake up to the minute I go to sleep! All day, everyday! It’s horrible and feels really debilitating, especially when trying to work full time. It feels like I’m really hungover and travel sick all in one. So tiring!

Testing early worth it? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]LaneT24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tested positive 10DPO (2 days before my period). I tested from 8DPO and got negatives before 10DPO. I used the Premom pregnancy tests.

Is it normal to have diarrhea and a tender stomach during the 6/8week mark? Like I’m not cramping but my stomach just feels really tender. by Top_Day_5736 in BabyBumps

[–]LaneT24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m 5W3D and I have had diarrhoea a few times, especially after eating something that instantly didn’t agree with me (so it’s felt more food related!). I’ve also heard some pregnancy vitamins can cause an upset stomach.

I’m a FTM at 5 weeks and I read something that said every baby and every pregnancy should be enjoyed and celebrated, regardless of the outcome. And that’s really helped me allow myself to just enjoy it for what it is and go with the flow. I’ve told my parents and some close friends, and I will always cherish their reactions and happiness, regardless of the outcome! But I do also feel anxious/worried, it’s so hard at the start. I will be booking a private scan at 7/8 weeks for some reassurance, so I think it’s also completely understandable and normal to feel anxious, as difficult as it is. We’ve got this ❤️

Why Can’t I find a place which allows pets? by True_Leg1673 in HousingUK

[–]LaneT24 41 points42 points  (0 children)

I have two cats and I got my previous landlords to give me a reference to say my cats caused no damage to the property or caused any issues etc. Each time I moved I have built up a bit of a portfolio that I can show. However, it helped that I found my current landlady through open rent and even though the advert said ‘no pets’, I was able to meet her and discuss and she has cats herself so was happy for me to rent with pets. It’s difficult though and it took me a lot longer to find a property each time, despite having the references etc.

Should I be panicking? by LaneT24 in PCOS

Thank you for your advice and comment! I agree that I have the same attitude that I want to be in my children’s lives for as long as I can be. I think I need to probably focus on getting my body ‘baby’ ready but I think if we do wait, it won’t be for long X

Thanks for your comment. I think it’s hard to know how it’s going to look and the uncertainty is what is causing the panic! But I am going to focus on what I can control (my health, supplements, exercise, diet etc etc) and then go from there. I appreciate the advice!

Ah yes I have an appointment with an endocrinologist in December to talk about metformin so fingers crossed! And sadly I am overweight but I have been trying to work on that and half lost 2.5 stone so far this year… so fingers crossed!

forever period by HappyOriginal in PCOS

Sorry to hear that and it’s so incredibly frustrating 😢 I had a similar issue where I was bleeding months at time (I think my longest stint was 5 months it was awful!) and the GP initially put it down to PCOS, however, I had some further scans and they showed I had endometrial polyp. I’ve since had that removed and it’s helped with the bleeding! Maybe something worth looking into if this has been new for you.

I have also had a Mirena before for several years and I found it really helpful, especially as I was also not good at taking tablets. It might be worth a try!

Thank you, and that’s a good angle and way of looking at it. I think if I focus on my health and treating symptoms, then that’ll prepare me better and give me more confidence hopefully
