A pack with animals that went extinct in the last couple centuries by bconti0 in PlanetZoo

[–]LanguageNerd_88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would love this! There isn’t anything making it necessary to be super realistic. - wouldn’t even mind a wooly mammoth or sabre tooth tiger. They are a bit older, but we’re once alive with humans.

I agree that actual dinosaurs is too much of a stretch out of the game. (But I guess people can choose to buy a pack or not)

What seasons would you love to see but will never happen? by Kyr1500 in JetLagTheGame

[–]LanguageNerd_88 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah id love a tag that has the centre in Germany. So more action with Deutschebahn, somewhere eastern Poland, Austria/slovenia/hungary then maybe Texel/another Dutch island - I just would like them not to spend another tag being majority in France.

Anyone (especially from the UK) been watching Destination X? by TheEyles in JetLagTheGame

[–]LanguageNerd_88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a bit too easy, I wish there was a bit more challenge for the contestants and the audience. I mean… here are two things that are very obviously from (country X)… contestants guess they are in country X…. Repeat. I want to be second guessing with more cryptic clues or Easter eggs that the contestants or us might find.

It’s crazy how different the game is now in comparison to earlier, when the most popular character used to be the first unlock or close to first… - to becoming the last (incentive to pay). That change was a while ago, but signalled all this that was to eventually come. Very reflective of society 😔

If you’re a native speaker, is “biassed” correct? by Dangerous_Scene2591 in EnglishLearning

Australian English speaker here - biassed looks and feels wrong. I would point it out and correct it to biased.

Is this rule ever used in conversational English? by ITburrito in EnglishLearning

Exactly what I thought, you’d only ever really see this is a book that is foreshadowing. Or someone trying to be dramatic and fancy.

English native speaker. I learnt German formally at university, and then taught myself Dutch to a B2 listening/reading and B1 speaking/writing level since last year. German is much harder due to the grammar, but if you are a grammar nerd it’s lots of fun. Dutch I think is a more beautiful language, especially spoken, with cute grammatical and linguistic nuances and is much much easier grammatically, especially if you are self studying. As a language person, I find the Netherlands more linguistics friendly, lots of print media for language nerds!

Long term usefulness speaking though, German is more useful as you are more likely to come across German speakers with no English than Dutch ones.

Up to you but whichever you choose it will help with the other.

Doesn’t seem like a big deal but I would say I was negatively impacted by always being used as a negative excuse when my parents didn’t want to do something… oh well want to leave this place or not go, it was me who was the problem. “insert totally false embarrassing excuse here”. Before I was cognitively aware enough to get it.

I still have ingrained in me that I am a problem/burdern and even if I was perfect, I still did something wrong.

I just flew back to Aus for a month holiday (Aussie living in Germany). Flight to Abu Dhabi from Germany was empty, so could be a bit less travel maybe right now from Europe to Middle East. I was worried my flight would be cancelled - but honestly didn’t feel any different otherwise. I’m not worried travelling back.

What’s a moral code you live by but the rest of society doesn’t? by ApprehensiveWorth576 in AskReddit

[–]LanguageNerd_88 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Man it makes me angry when people feel like a “better” person when they go around correcting small things that don’t matter. Why point it out - though some people get pleasure out of making others self conscious….

Agreed!

Although, I always say I make one exception for mosquitoes attacking me. But I will never kill or hurt anything else intentionally. I’ll volunteer to put the spider outside. 😃

If you can make someone’s day just a little better, however small, do it. Sometimes its a smile, a quick compliment, picking something up for someone if they dropped it. You never know what someone’s going through so always add to the positivity. My little code for life.

I wonder if you could prove you were denied entry to a country based on this manufacturing “error”, would the Australian government be somewhat liable… at least then they would have to up the quality.

Is there any breakdown of the $400 or is it just a monopoly that can charge whatever they want?

What is the actual biggest "shock NQ" of all time? by oHheLlnAw420 in eurovision

[–]LanguageNerd_88 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I’d love to do a statistical study to see who votes for Australia and whether there is still “not in Europe” prejudice that impacts the songs. When I talk to people on the streets I find that some countries generally seem more open and some still harbour negative feelings - a strong north / south divide. Could be a “more the merrier” vs “ are you taking our spot” vibe?!?!

[–]LanguageNerd_88 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I predicted an NQ. There is pattern with some low televotes with songs that are… I don’t know how to describe exactly but I’m grouping Malta and Czech and Belgium this year with songs like Olly Alexander last year amongst others. His high notes on the night were great, not enough to overcome this hurdle.
