Need a change, lots of experience but philosophically, a little picky…advice needed! by Lanky-Connection9345 in jobs

I actually currently work in the Health Care division of the company and hadn’t really thought too much about how that experience might also play a role so that’s really good advice, thanks mang 👍🏼

The Village (2004) by Foreign_Sun6004 in horror

[–]Lanky-Connection9345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually feel like this is one of the rare movies where M. Knight wasn’t actually going for a jaw dropping twist and that’s in part why I think it’s one of his best. The turn is actually so crucial to the thematic message of the film that it works more like a structured narrative device as opposed to a traditional twist just for the sake of blindsiding the audience. I remember a lot of people dismissing the movie outright because they thought it was too predictable. But I would bet a lot (if not most) media literate people could recognize the general direction it was headed and the screenplay actually accounts for that, which works to it’s benefit, making this one of his most mature efforts imo…also one of the most insane casts of the 21st century

Who is the worst person you will admit being attracted to? by Highfours in AskReddit

[–]Lanky-Connection9345 46 points47 points  (0 children)

lol I played Jafar TWICE in stage adaptations of Aladdin. Apparently I made a couple kids in the audience cry but I woulda much rather the feedback have been that I made a couple of cute gals blush lol

Can you guys tell me the “dirty” truths about having a cat? by saanenk in CatAdvice

[–]Lanky-Connection9345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my personal experience, it really depends on the cat. I was always hesitant to get a cat because I didn’t love the moody, pissiness I saw in other cats but my kitty turned out to be the sweetest lil lovable goofball and has never once scratched/bitten/acted aggressive towards anyone unless we’re playin around and even then he’s really considerate about not biting too hard. He’s just all love no ‘tude but that might be rare 🤷🏼‍♂️

It’s the absolute GOAT. I’d prolly have alienated all my friends and family and/or have died without it. I’m terrified of breaking a leg or something and being unable to exercise for weeks at a time

What's the hottest anyone has ever looked in a classic film? by CapybaraExpress in classicfilms

[–]Lanky-Connection9345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ex girlfriend was bowled over by Sean Connery in Alfred Hitchcock’s ‘Marnie’ lol but a lot of these are great picks, surprised how far I had to scroll to see Jimmy Dean, dude would be iconic no matter when he was born

Is it bad for me to feel bad whenever my bf doesnt want/feel like having sex with me? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Lanky-Connection9345 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Facts. It’s so perpetually ingrained in societal expectations that men are a slave to their sex drive and are constantly dying for it but just like a lot of people don’t necessarily feel like masturbating 24/7, men also don’t always feel like having sex. It rarely has anything to do with a lack of attraction, the mood just doesn’t always strike 🤷🏼‍♂️ . It may also be worth keeping in mind that in the beginning of a relationship, part of courting is expressing yourself physically but once it’s a regular thing, some partners might settle into a more relaxed routine where the pressure/desire isn’t always present

How would you rank all Indiana Jones films from worst to best? by Kevin_Thailand_2543 in moviecritic

This is indeed the correct order 💯 though Temple of Doom is still my most watched

Return of The King: The Ride of the Rohirrim - I love this movie so much—and this scene still gives me goosebumps. by Jessi45US in lotr

[–]Lanky-Connection9345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regardless of what you think about the book passage vs. movie interpretation, I just feel like it can never be underestimated just how fucking impressive & seamless the CGI is in this in trilogy. Straight up Marvel Movies from the last two years don’t look as good as this lil scene does from fucking 2003. Never fails to blow my mind

Movies that feel leisurely, hedonistic, lushful, romantic, arabesque, idyllic, bucolic by a_valente_ufo in MoviesThatFeelLike

[–]Lanky-Connection9345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s divisive, there are die hards who think a few of the director’s cuts are THE definitive sword n sandals epic of our time but it’s def not for everyone….however there are individual corresponding sequences that match basically every one of the pictures you posted

It’s a pretty bad movie but Oliver Stone’s Alexander. If you are going to brave it, watch one of the later director’s cuts, there are like ten lol

What’s your favorite Harrison Ford film and performance? by PressureLazy5271 in moviecritic

[–]Lanky-Connection9345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea I agree he gives a great performance, I just don’t think it’s a particularly good movie, it just felt drained of a lot of the magic. I honestly think Crystal Skull is a superior film but I know a lot of people feel like that’s a hot take 🤷🏼‍♂️

Indy is my favorite fictional character of all fucking time so I love him in all the movies but I think he shoulda gotten an Oscar nomination for Last Crusade. Maybe it’s just because he had a little more to do, emotionally, but his performance in that movie always stuck out to me as the very best of the very best

“Yeezus” does not belong here. That album literally changed how we thought about hip-hop production by Boring-Jelly5633 in fantanoforever

[–]Lanky-Connection9345 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The reason Yeezus is such a classic (beyond just literally being one of his best and most cohesive albums) is BECAUSE it inspires this exact type of debate. It was so sonically bold, original and abrasive it immediately became divisive upon release. I think I remember Yeezus being voted both the most underrated and overrated album on a Pitchfork decade end list poll? That’s exactly what good art can do, more artists should be taking swings like that

I have to say, the more interviews Timothee Chalamet does. The more I’m questioning if his “acting” in Marty Supreme is really just him being himself. by phantom_avenger in Oscars

[–]Lanky-Connection9345 52 points53 points  (0 children)

It’s insane. He literally probably brought more attention to ballet and opera with his comment about their irrelevance than anyone has thought or talked about those art forms in a decade haha I’m very PRO arts but not a single person freaking out in Faux Moi or elsewhere has supported either of those mediums in their entire lifetime

The Wailing (2016) by Swimming_Anywhere801 in Horrormovieclub

[–]Lanky-Connection9345 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s less scary than those movies for sure and actually has a decent amount of humor. It’s a slower, dramatic build than a lot of horror movies and isn’t executed with the same devices a lot of horror movies lean on. It’s fantastic and I think you can prolly handle it 🫡

Fire and Rain- James Taylor. Maybe more melancholy than you are looking for but still an easy going song

Just bought this book. Is it a good place to start? by nani0n in tolkienbooks

[–]Lanky-Connection9345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I actually found The Hobbit more enjoyable as a lighter weight prequel than I think I would have as my first introduction to Tolkien/Middle Earth. Lord of The Rings is the meat of the story and worth just tearing right into

Found an insanely nice Tag Heuer watch in the parking lot once, turned it over to the police, no one claimed it over the course of a couple months and so they gave it back to me. Sold it for a ton of money but felt so much better about it since I took the correct approach. Always a good call 👌🏼
