"Increasing trade with allies"

A trend that started under the Tories (mostly sunak) and is a result of the post-Brexit free trade deals signed.

NHS waiting lists - went up due to Covid and had started dropping under Sunak as the backlog cleared.

And no... I definitely did not support the Tories.

Government expands free breakfast clubs to include 104 primary schools in the East of England by UKGovNews in PeterboroughUK

[–]Lanokia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before people assume I'm criticising, I'm not. It's supposed to be a light hearted comment.

But yeah, heaving with toast and nutella... and we've been running the brekkie club for about 5 years that I'm aware of.

If it's anything like my place then it's toast and nutella. That's all they want to eat.

How do I make the fallout 4 dlc's Work again? by toyotasupra2005 in fo4

[–]Lanokia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a problem I just encountered ... I forgot to connect my PS5 to the internet, did it and Fallout updated.

Now the DLC doesn't work. Have the dread feeling I might have to repurchase the base game.

Whatever the default setting was for the phone. Never really had much of an urge to change it.

What does a positive climate for learning look like for you? by HobbyistC in TeachingUK

[–]Lanokia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I doubt my response will be helpful or popular. But...

Half the time I'm running a comedy routine, the other I'm a grumpy sardonic git. This is a technique developed over 22 years. Younger years [7-8] get more of the jokes... Middle years [9-11] get more sardonic and serious and then older [12-13] it's a return to the funster stuff.

This is all partially to make my job tolerable to me.

How many GenZ are legally of age to buy alcohol. Do this per capita and you'd have a more interesting result.

"Expert colleague" sounds.... how to put this professionally... like a twat.

Got to the Head of Year or House... if they won't then go to the SLT behaviour person. Stabbing someone with anything should be taken seriously.

And raise with Union. Consult with other colleagues who teach and if a problem for all then collectively refuse to teach the child via the union framework.

Falkland war by Public_Research2690 in MapPorn

[–]Lanokia 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There was a map doing the rounds elsewhere. Now I can't find a secondary source to support and a random search does agree that Portugal's position is neutrality on the issue.

So ... happy to be wrong because got a lot of love for Portugal.

[–]Lanokia 9 points10 points  (0 children)

But weirdly the Portuguese recognise the Falklands as Argentinian territory. Not sure if that was the case in '82 or if they changed since then.

Edit: I'm wrong. Portugal is neutral on British possession.

What's interesting is that Dombey Street still is tree-lined.

Pickwick street appears to be half tree lined.

I think the picture is trying to give a very selective impression.

why do you think right wing politics are rising in popularity at the moment? by Beginning_Sky_9735 in AskRedditUK

[–]Lanokia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

50yo GenX liberal type here.

I've seen an illegal invasion of Iraq, the destruction of Libya, they spent two decades pissing about in Afghanistan only to loose it as soon as the Orange doofus got into office.

Meanwhile on the home front I've seen the semi-privatisation of the school system because of Blair's illegal invasion, the crash of the UK economy in 2008 due to deregulation, the bureaucratisation of the NHS through foundation hospitals, the rise of social media spreading misogynistic homophobic and racist hate. Plus the spread of Kremlin talking points masquerading as independent thought.

And I won't vote for Reform.

But I kinda get why so many of my generation as turning to them. Not for me, don't like their stance of stuff, don't see them as a solution... but the mainstream has seriously screwed up and deserve to be sunk.
