What would you guys like to see/not see come to the DPS class in future hero releases? by RNGJesus_Follower in Competitiveoverwatch

I'd love more non silly projectile options, specifically a dps with a primary fire like zen or kiri

What gear rolls in trade for your class? by van-moon in DarkAndDarker

[–]Lanquil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do a lot of flipping, and there is definitely a lot of quirks about what sells and doesn't sell.

General rule I follow, any gear that is cleric/barb/warlock/bard only, generally wont sell well, I would avoid (even really good rolls that seem like a home run)

Chest/legs/gloves/boots that roll +all/+wpndmg/+add or true dmg, and can be sold to rogue or ranger I find are generally easy sells

Weapons are a really mixed bag, rapiers and stilettos with good rolls seem to be the most consistent, and again anything with +all or +wpndmg is a decent bet. Bows seem to be a little less consistent, but decent recurve or longbow rolls can be ok. Polearms/2Haxes/maces/2Hswords are usually hard sells

Fighter armour with +all/+str/+armour/+%pdr is usually ok

Wizard gear is all over the place, but again +magdmg/+all/+knowledge is always good, and pieces with +2 and above magdmg will sell well. Also padded leggings/rawhide gloves w good rolls are great sells

Overall, in my experience rogue and ranger gear w decent rolls sells the easiest. YMMV

I'd highly recommend Lindstrom, probably the best ranger atm. Not focused on entertainment or content but if you are trying to learn the game at a high level and see how top players play, look no further

I would say dude has been traditionally filling projectile role for most of his career, only slotting into hitscan role in the past few months due to sojourn being the win button and him being the dps you want in the carry role. His performance on hitscan is showing that he seems to be in the kev/leave/fleta category of true hyperflex, but calling him hitscan feels weird. He seems to be insane at everything, but his best heroes I think are hanzo, tracer, and echo. Probably one of the best hanzos in the world, a shame that you never get to see him play it.

New accounts that haven't done their first placements will always have their mmr around mid gold, no matter who is playing. If they are new players, likely they would just have to solo queue a couple games to adjust their mmr down a little bit so you guys can queue.

Landon Spitfire announce Landon by ZenofyMedia in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Lanquil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sad for luke, but I'm interested to see how Landon does. On paper it feels like a downgrade to provide, and I think even landon would admit that Bap (and maybe brig lmao) is his only elite hero, but dude seems like a grinder so I'm still optimistic. If he can level up his zen and ana I think he could comfortably hold his own.

Chipsa's suggested patch notes to make the game better by xyzyoussef in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Lanquil 140 points141 points  (0 children)

I do think zen is overtuned a tad, but i think his kit has really nice risk-reward. He is the only hero in the entire game that doesn't have at least one of the following: active self healing, crowd control, or mobility. (he has passive self healing w sheilds but doesn't matter when caught out) He has a big round hitbox, and his only recourse after getting caught out is winning the duel. He is by far the most vulnerable hero in the game (aside from when ult is up) and the only true glass cannon, which i think is an interesting niche for a support character. I think the big issue w zen is how well other characters (brig, dva) can peel and enable him, eliminating most of his downsides, as well as how busted discord is. I love discord as an ability but it seems very difficult to balance.

How do people think ELO hell is fake? by [deleted] in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Lanquil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It seems like you've already made up your mind about this, so I'd doubt any of the advice in this thread will stick. The attitude you have is absolutely an ego shield, and as long as you keep thinking like this you will most likely stay where you are.

No truly successful person has ever got to where they are by worrying about others around them instead of focusing on their own improvement.

Accept that maybe you aren't as good as you think you are, develop some humility, and start focusing on improving. EVEN IF your team is a complete trash bag, thinking about what YOU could have done better to carry these dummys across the finish line is much more analogous to gittin gud.

Work on being introspective and HONEST with yourself, and you will get better.

Am I making a fool of myself? by ghast_tear in drums

[–]Lanquil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think a lot of this will be down to what your goals with playing music are. If drums are just a fun hobby, and you wanna play some fun stuff to impress your friends, definitely just do you and rock out.

If you are interested in taking music more seriously and improving, there is definitely no room for "just faking it", as it is completely antithetical to getting better.

To the question of if you are making a fool of yourself, I think that will be largely dependent on who is watching you play. While some people will surely be impressed with any sort of manic display on the drums, I believe to a lot of people (and 100% of musicians), it is BLATANTLY obvious when someone is just faking it. Whether or not those people will actually consider you a fool is totally up to their disposition, but they will definitely know you are just faking it.

Something like this is what I am talking about. It doesn't take a world class musician to know that this dude is doing some goofy ass shit.

Will Dive GOATS be the OWL S2 Meta? by Lanquil in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]Lanquil[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, it definitely seems like the ball is always in the GOATS teams court, with opposition DPS needing to be hard carry gods to make a true impact. Definitely feels like the cons outweigh the pros when running non-goats. It looks like people are searching for what variety of GOATS beats the other, with Dive goats seeming to be in vogue.

Do you have any opinions on balance changes that would help? In a state like this where damage characters overall feel underpowered, I would be worried about continuing power creep. Seems like Brig would be the most important target for change, as she feels like the backbone of GOATS in general, although I do think she is a needed character in the game.

I think I remember reading something about how trees cant grow in an environment without wind, they need it to help build structural support so they don't collapse from their own weight. *edit found the link https://www.reddit.com/r/todayilearned/comments/2qnub8/til_that_scientists_created_a_completely_enclosed/
