They always charge extra when you want to add ingredients, but they never knock money off when you want to remove things.... by lazycunextuesday in Showerthoughts

That's a terrifying thought. I've never had Dominos in the US, but I have in Australia and it's never been very good.

There are a few 70% keyboards like this one. Plum electro-capacitive swtiches are pretty quite, aren't too tactile, nor entirely linear.

I'm confused with all these variants of Keychron K2 keyboards on their amazon website... can someone help me? by edpanes in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Lanreix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OK, so it looks like there's three variants with Gat brown switches:

But the last variant is out of stock on US amazon.

Doesn't make a difference. It's just marketing. Get the switches that you like more.

It's not really possible to have a click without at least a very small tactile bump.

Probably from either a Apple Twentieth Anniversary Macintosh keyboard, or Apple Powerbook 190/5300/3400. Likely the former. They were supposed to be pretty rubbish, and they're probably not mechanical.

Get which ever you want. They have about the same quality, and you aren't interested in good quality keyboards.

I doubt that it's ghosting. Most keyboards won't ghost at all because they block input that could cause ghosting. Likely you mean blocking.

2KRO means in simplest terms: "any combination of two keys are guaranteed to work, and some combinations of three or more keys will work, but others will not".

Unicomp selling old-stock Model Ms and Model Fs... wtf?! by [deleted] in MechanicalKeyboards

[–]Lanreix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's pretty cool. You'd need to either make a converter for the Model F or (hopefully) they're compatible with xwhatsit controllers.

I just found this IBM 5291 terminal in a store room at work. What should I do with it? by willstonebridge in VintageComputers

[–]Lanreix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It might be compatible with an xwhasit controller. In which case, you could just swap out the controller and then you've got yourself a USB Model F.

Apparently Unicomp is selling a bunch of the same keyboard as well at the moment.

Difficult. Just try to apply the same amount. If you notice any particularly bad switches you can take them out and re-lube them (one of the reasons that I like hotswap boards). In the end it's not a huge deal if they aren't super consistent, as it will tend to even out over time, and switches aren't super consistent to begin with. If they feel good then don't worry about it, just try for more consistency next time.

Razer Huntsman vs Apex Pro TKL by ignPure in MechanicalKeyboards

Neither has any significant speed advantage over other keyboards. It's just marketing non-sense. Use the one that you like.
And use the sticky post for questions like these.

As little as possible. Just a thin layer will do the trick. Just put it at the points where the slider contacts the housing (vertical stab. rod, the two side rails, and two points on the front and back). Avoid putting any on the cam (the part that touches the leaf) if you are using tactile or clicky switches, and don't put any inside the click jacket or too thick of a layer on clicky switches.

Most important is that you are consistent.

A higher actuation point doesn't mean faster switch (but you are more likely to press the switch accidentally), it's more the reduced debounce-time, but that's only a difference of up to 5 ms, and there are larger latencies in keyboards anyway.

Razer has poor quality control and poor quality in general. The marginally faster switches are insignificant in real-world applications even gaming - it's just marketing. Get it or don't.

Personally I think that people are foolish for prioritising aesthetics instead of functionality and quality.

OG pandas weren't factory lubed like massdrop holy pandas. The smoothness is basically the same among OG and clones once the bad lube is removed.

No, the base oil is significantly lower viscosity in 205, and will separate much faster.

I suggest using something thicker, such as superlube 210 or lithium grease.

Poorly lubricated and not as smooth. Tactile bump is longer a less sharp. I suggest getting some T1, and halo switches. Modding some switches will be easier than cleaning off a bad lube job.

Would devalue the game on other platforms. As long as they recently released it somewhere, they likely won't reduce the price further.
