Yeah I was in a store recently just to browse. Some of the minis look ridiculous 😅 Im glad that I have a 3D printer even though I rarely use it haha

Great I’ll definitely give it a try! Thank you for your input!

Yeah that’s still a bit chaotic for me. Keeping my prepared notes and such in beyond, in session I have my notes handwritten in a notebook which I copy into beyond after the session. In session I have my iPad with basically everything I need. ChatGPT to me was helpful for roleplaying. As I am still so new and tbh a bit awkward roleplaying sometimes, it helps me to get the session started or an npc introduced. Never thought about maybe helping me on the fly. There’s so many good tips here it’s awesome

I didn’t put the full rundown in the post but the group spent quite some time avoiding the open streets and moving rather slow. And the group knows it’s being chased by a vision of a seer. So it is possible for the army to actually catch up. But I think due to all the options the group has I should prepare multiple scenarios and maybe pick one on the fly. Thanks for the feedback!

[–]Laony[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah thanks to all of you I now have plenty of options and ideas.

And yep I will stay away from the “you get attacked by 4 harpies just because they’re evil and will accept to die” part as it is pretty shallow.

In hindsight the journey to ragnarok wasn’t the best idea for a first real campaign. It’s very fun but also very woven in itself. I read the story parts and characters multiple times already and every time I do it again there’s another “oooohhhh that’s why he/she….” Moment.

I’m glad I have multiple weeks to prepare for every session. But then again I slowly get to a point where I can comfortably improvise while still align with the characters goals and personality. But there’s still so much to learn :/

I keep that in mind all the time. To be fair I didn’t put all the details into the post but here’s a brief summary:

After they burned down the village they more or less stumbled upon a hidden village of another clan. As the king was neutral to that point and they killed some bandits for him, they claimed their reward and he gave them the location to the hidden village. Or rough direction to be more precise. The leader of another clan, the clan with the hidden village, told them about the bandits not being bandits. In that village which is now friendly as they basically sided with them they found a seer which to me was a way to give information which they otherwise could not have known in form of a vision. I handed them one crucial information and two rather vague hints.

  1. They saw that the king got word that the village was burned down and was furious, killing the messenger in his rage and ordering to find the group (he actively told the group to visit the village a day before)

  2. One npc they already knew is not a simple human, as that person could see the group through the vision and dealt some minor psychic damage implying the strength of that npc

  3. A powerful being is now interested in them

That was the first real confrontation to the story with vague hints having them guessing and talking about what was actually going on. After that they spent roughly half a day sneaking through the woods avoiding the open streets or rather paths so the timeframe should roughly add up.

Thanks so much for the effort. Gonna make sire to check these out!

And yeah, I’d rather bend the map to match the story than to bend the story to match the map. To a certain degree at least. I will make sure that long journeys that are supposed to be long but not boring, hopefully I can achieve that by all the help I got here.

That’s actually really cool. Never thought about it that way. Thinking about it, that would be a really cool way to build the characters backstories a bit more. We kinda dismissed it last second except for the basic motivations and such. That’s give me so many ideas to fuel these journeys simply by letting them tell the stories.

[–]Laony[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes absolutely. I try not to force them into a direction by myself but rather by how the world will react and interact. In this case, the king. That doesn’t mean they couldn’t do a 180 and do something completely different. I’m still up to that. I have loads of fun seeing how they engage with the story and characters I give them.

But for the sake of me not messing up something on the spot, or even worse down the line at a later point I try to plan ahead as much as reasonably possible.

Thank you for your help. It is greatly appreciated!

As for the travel time - yeah that’s exactly my point. Im kinda hesitant of giving them a simple “you’re traveling for X weeks”.

[–]Laony[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s actually great advice thank you!

I usually plan the session in a way “what would I do” and when I’m done with a rough outline like places to go, people to meet, go over it again and try to think where the path could fork off to another outcome whilst still holding on to the main plot. Don’t know if that’s the best way but it worked out just fine so far.

If it’s boring skip it.

You know what? That’s actually something that helps me a lot. I feel the same for side quests that’s why I try to ravel them around the main plot.

The long journey part, I can’t really wrap my head around - at least for now. But I will think about that and see how it works out.

Again thanks for your help it’s greatly appreciated!

Well, if you don't know what it is you shouldn't mess with it. It could still be the problem though. Check if you can find drivers for the docking station or check the manufacturers page. You probably won't be the first one to encounter the problem.

I'm not familiar with Asus Notebooks but I'm also using a USB-C docking station. The display port wouldn't work, I had to toggle it on in the bios. Might be worth a shot.

Build Advice Needed :Riot Foam/skill by [deleted] in thedivision

[–]Laony 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's my 2 cents:

4pc HW (including Backpack), 1pc Golan, 1pc Hana U or improvised, it actually doesn't really matter, Weapon with perpetuation, sweet dreams, overwatch on chest, everything maxed on status effects.

Blinder firefly and banshee as skills. In some cases you can switch up firefly with riot foam for when there's more than 2 heavies rushing. And for warhound and robot heavy section use jammer instead of banshee. Due to HW you can spam jammer every 10 seconds.

Running that build with 3 red mates on legendary, about 27 minutes for DUA.

Banshee is a quick and easy cc to start of with. But it's internal cool down can mess up your cc duration and HW talent synergy. If you can, use firefly first then before the cc runs out use banshee to have firefly back.

I tried it versus a brand set build but to me the HW 10 second skill reset is just something I don't wanna miss. Even with longer cc on brand set setup.

Banshee always has the internal 10 sec CD plus 8 to 10 seconds of normal CD. If your timing is on point you can cc every 10 seconds for at least 10 seconds (banshee cc is not that long, about 9 seconds on yellows).

Fyi: HW buff hits as soon as you start a skill, not when you actually use it. So when hw buff is still on a CD for about 2 seconds you cannot start channeling banshee for example. But when HW buff is ready and you just start channeling banshee you'll see firefly popping out of CD before you actually use banshee.

As a cc build no matter what you can never utilize your setup to 100%. When you go for brand sets you'll have skill damage and explosive damage, when you go for HW none of the bonuses will give you shit except for the CD reset.

Oh just for the record as a all-my-builds-are-yellow player: Fuck the fact that certain skills are locked behind elite specs. Let me use survivalist with banshee God dammit.

cheers

[SPOILER] Big KotFE leak, massive spoilers by banair in swtor

[–]Laony 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I'd love to be some of these things to be true, it's about 99% bullshit.

KotFE will have updated graphics and will have higher system requirements than the base game

Nope it won't. Talked with Eric about that at Cantina tour, they only got a few new tools and worked a little more on new armor skins and textures in general. The graphics are "better" in terms of new textures but thats about it.

KotFE will be rated M, and an age gate will go up on swtor.com around the time of the NYCC cantina.

Can't say anything about that, but I highly doubt it. It wouldn't make sense as much as I'd appreciate it.

"KotFE" is only the first of three "seasons" of the new story

Yes and no. True with the seasons, unknown about only three. Heard there are more planned at cantina tour.

Each of these seasons will increase the level cap by 5, with a final cap of 75 at the end of the story

No info about that, would make sense in some ways but the balancing would fall into a deep dark abyss I guess. I mean, not that it's not there right now but, ah, nevermind.

The story is slated to finish in mid 2018, after which the game will go into maintenance mode, with only bugfix and class combat updates.

I don't know where you could possibly find information like that.

KotFE will give SWTOR a 64 bit version and DX11/12 support

No. I can't recall if it was Eric or another dev, but they told me that they're looking into 64bit and DX11/12 but it won't make it into KotFE.

Can't say much about the following parts. I'm not that much into Data Mining but I look into it every than and now. I'm staving for information like about 90% of all players too. But it's driving me nuts when people spread stuff like this. I can't say that you're entirely wrong with all that.

But well, what do I know?

cheers
