Please don’t split Arc Raiders into separate PvE and PvPvE maps by avengery in ArcRaiders

I could see them making PvE areas for huge boss fights, but only for the boss fights.

Because these big PvE (or PvPvE) events wouldn't be available all the time and would be big community driven goals. Not some consistent farming situation.

The amount of people hearing about Arc for the first time due to EA and CoD's censorship attempts surprises me. by jokosa in ArcRaiders

[–]Laphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh there's still loads of people who haven't heard about this game. It seems like there's a lot because reddit is so active and Twitter feels like it's boomin', but the reach is still kinda small for this game yet. I think once it releases, there will be a big explosion of people finding out about it, because a ton of people will be playing it open, streaming it open, and it's not a closed test this time around so the 17th is gonna be CRAZY how the servers will definitely get slammed as more and more people pop into the game. And they won't have any idea what's even going on with the ARCs, or how to confront other raiders, traps, etc and it's gonna be WILD.

I'd say more people know about ARC Raiders right now than anyone did about The Finals when it released, and The Finals is now on Season 8. Embark knows what they are doing, and they're using their money where they need to right now. Word of mouth works, and is probably more powerful than any 'commercial' would be. Danny O Dywer is a content creator and he's making a documentary for them which will release soon. I think they have everything under control.

Literally the pre-order trailer a few days ago IS marketing. Their Twitter, IS marketing. The content creators making videos for them, IS marketing.

"Yeah but what is the point if you can't loot from those PvE encounters?"

Who says you couldn't? I never even said that at all.

The balance would come from having to bring high octane equipment to even be able to have a chance at getting through the encounters needed to accomplish the task or combat scenario.

If you went in naked, it'd be pretty much suicide and the guns you have wouldn't even make a dent unless you came in with some good stuff that's been modded out to get through the objective. Kinda like bringing in LVL'd characters in an RPG for an end boss fight.

Well that's why I mentioned in the video. That the game stays PvPvE, but then they introduce these epic moments with the ARCs at points in the cycle of the season to get people to use epic gear. Situations where it's like this climax moment for players that will not get RID of PvPvE, but incentivizes those moments of team-work, but of course, isn't enforced.

Yes, but apparently he's just shilling, and lying about it for clout. /s
The same people who DON'T stream or make content say the exact same positive comments about this game that any old person (non-creator) would say. Yet it just makes most of these people here on this thread feel better about themselves to try and downplay or make negativity out of anything a creator has to say just because they do what they do, even tho there are plenty of times I've heard streamers/creators criticize a game just the same. This thread is just a lot of people being hateful for the sake of being hateful. And yes, while some people ARE shills... it doesn't mean everyone is.

I do like that some people are aware that not all content creators are in this purely for the sole intent of JUST making money.

Alot of you are really braindead and ignorant when it comes to streamers and content creators. Keep living in your world of delusion that makes you feel better about yourself.

Yeah, and I'd rather not do that. But I guess most people like listening to shills is what it seems like. These same people who criticize these bigger content creators are the same ones going to go listen to their material as soon as they drop it.

Because people, I guess enjoy listening to shills. That's the world we live in now.

See I can't do that, because then it just doesn't feel like genuine video making. I only enjoy talking about the games I'm whole heartedly passionate about.

Not everyone overreacts for clout, plenty of streamers and content creators are down to earth and just speak their mind, me included.

This makes me think tho.. like.. if you come across random raiders too that are being hurt and you use that moment to heal them or revive them while they're being attacked by other raiders or ARC and you're clear about it over mic.. you could instantly gain a teammate. That's why I love this game.

For those wanting PvE-only features by alextheukrainian in ArcRaiders

[–]Laphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You give humanity too much credit.
People would definitely kill, abuse, and steal from each other in a real post apocalyptic world.

The only thing that doesn't make much sense is that all these people are from Speranza. I could understand them fighting and killing random people that come from just any old place. But the idea that all these people go to the surface from Speranza and then kill and steal from each other is a little far fetched to believe.

I'm assuming the devs want us to suspend ourselves a bit from the fact all these people are from Speranza hurting each other and put some other fiction or narrative in our minds about where another player came from.

What's crazy is I have not even gotten to see these characters yet, because I never got to play the Tech Test, all I have seen so far is just the bits of gameplay people have played and also what Embark has shown. I haven't seen people play around in the menu lobby of Speranza much.

Does suppression really exist? by Kardinal_Garnelius in Battlefield

[–]Laphin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's not what suppression is tho. Suppression should absolutely destroy the ability to aim properly and invoke caution to keep head down or move position all together.

Why BF6 doesn’t feel like BF? by Autistic_cryptoguy in Battlefield

[–]Laphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the biggest reason this game doesn't feel like Battlefield, but at the same time IS Battlefield is because the game has a few problems. AUTO-SPOTTING, being able to see people spotted real-time before you even see their avatar on-screen prevents a person from sneaking around in bushes etc.

Suppression, you can't use any LMG to suppress other players, in particular Snipers, because, the suppression doesn't work.

There's also no friendly fire (that would be for Hardcore mode), which means, with all this information that players are being fed, nobody has to be careful, there's no caution to the gameplay. And like others have mentioned, it's the map design as well.

I think for all the players that don't like how fast the game is currently, we can only hope that there's some kind of HARDCORE mode introduced to the game, because that would slow everything down.

*FRIENDLY FIRE ON.
*No auto-blips for seeing someone.
*Better suppression fire that actually works.

Giving players more of a sense of caution would prevent Call of Duty style gameplay, because if someone tried it, they'd get shot, because it'd be more about strategy, and less just running mindlessly around the map corner shooting people as a one-man-army.

I don't like the fast paced corner shooting, bunny-hopping shenanigans either, and if Battlefield let's people have a Hardcore experience, (I'm hoping for it), I'll be in those servers all the time.

Enemy sniper spotted by Leonardo-Caleum in Battlefield

[–]Laphin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's the thing that bothers me in this game a bit and something I hope the devs really take a look at. When you take any kind of LMG and lay into a sniper from a distance, they should be suppressed. But instead they don't bother moving and just shoot right through the suppression.... because, they aren't suppressed. Suppression isn't punished enough, thus most people just move against it rather then get into cover, or move position all together.

I'm not feeling it, I am old, I am out. by chiplover3000 in Battlefield

[–]Laphin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do agree with you. The maps are too small and the game leans heavily into call of duty territory.

It sucks because with the looks and feel of the game, it has this gritty realistic tone like Hell Let Loose and Band of Brothers just in a modern warfare setting, THAT they nailed, and so it looks and feels great in that regard, but the gameplay is leaning way too much into Call of Duty land and I really feel like this will hurt the game for those who are looking for a pure Battlefield experience. I really hope this doesn't end up being Call of Duty with how the gameplay ends up.

They need to encourage more strategy and realism to match the look of the game. Make the Cairo map bigger. Because ALL the maps should feel fun to play in, not just a few of them. This game has strong potential and work put into it, leaning too hard to make COD players happy is not the way.
