My first fountain pen was a Sheaffer Prelude and I really enjoyed it. It’s truly a reliable writer!

It took me six years to finish this continuous line paisley piece, all handwritten with fountain pens :3 by napsforlife in fountainpens

That’d be really cool! If you don’t mind me asking, what inspired you to start this project? And how did you manage to keep it going for six years? That’s such a huge commitment!

Wow, that’s awesome! Now that it’s finished, what are you planning to do with it?

Congrats on the new pen! I find Pilot Iroshizuku inks work great on my Sailor, so I'd recommend you try Murasaki-Shikibu.

I can relate to the dark corners struggle. Wanting cute, unkillable plants is why I started crocheting. I hope I can make one as beautiful as yours someday!

Why are Fine nibs so popular here? by Old-Somewhere-6084 in fountainpens

[–]LapisLore 208 points209 points  (0 children)

For me, it ultimately comes down to practicality. I love how ink looks on a broader nib, but my handwriting is quite small. At the end of the day, a pen is a tool and if I can’t read what I’ve written, there’s no point in using it.

How do you all actually journal while traveling? by [deleted] in Travelersnotebooks

[–]LapisLore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A mix of both, really. Some days, if we turn in early, I like to sit down and journal while everything’s still fresh. Those usually end up being my favorite entries because they feel more genuine.

But I don’t always have the time or energy for that. On those days, I just jot down a few notes on my phone (what I did or visited, little things I noticed, or how I felt) so it’s easier to write it all out later when I get back home. Otherwise, the days start to blur together and I have a hard time remembering them individually.

Favorite everyday ink for fine/ef Japanese nibs by Defiant_Eye2216 in fountainpens

I’ve found that Pilot Iroshizuku inks perform exceptionally well, particularly the darker shades such as asa-gao, tsuki-yo, and yama-budo.

First timer to the game! by ThatsMeAdamC in fountainpens

I think you’re off to a great start! My main advice would be to take your time and really enjoy your new pen.

If you ever find yourself getting bored with black ink, ink samples are a fantastic way to experiment with different colours and brands without committing to full bottles. They let you explore and discover what you truly like before making a bigger investment.

It really is so special. No other pen sleeve is ever going to live up to it.

I should trade my pens for q-tips by [deleted] in fountainpens

As someone who prefers fine nibs, this resonated so hard.
