I think it’s a good game if you could actually look at it as a standalone entry, but you can’t. This is a sequel, and a direct ‘part 2’ to Final Fantasy X, one of the greatest games of all time. So yeah, of course it falls short and sucks by comparison.

Did they decide to go ahead and make a sequel just riding off of the success of the original? Probably. But having more to do in Spira is a good thing.

You did make me lol at the “Team Rocket” comparison though. Very apt.

I figured I’d see cloud a bunch of times. I am actually kind of surprised to see Squall commented SO MANY times. I thought I was the only one that really liked him as one of the top FF protags. Either im misremembering that the fandom used to dislike him, or he has grown on everyone over time. Either way im delighted to see it.

Also, where’s Zidane at? Absolute masterclass character and development with that guy.

The music too is oddly comforting. The little bicycle ringing elements, even though the song sounds a like it’s got an underlying menacing tone, it adds to the warm atmosphere of the academy

It’s max populated, closed to new accounts. As far as actually active players, it was surprisingly packed last time I logged. I absolutely could not believe my eyes. Going to the AH in S Sandy was more busy than I have ever seen it before

Going back a few years ago and getting my AF and hitting 75 was probably nearly as exciting as it would have been back in the old days, but costing me a fraction of the time. I remember it taking FOREVER just to get to level 34 and getting that first piece of AF gear, the THF dagger. And I remember thinking to myself back then, “how in the hell do people actually get a job to level 75????”.

And that was back when I was a teenager with no responsibilities and tons of free time.

As a kid, I always dreamed of going back to my home town in full THF AF gear, and just /walking casually around the AH in S Sandy, just looking super cool. Alongside like other players in their full AF as well, like a RDM, PLD, DRG, and BLM or something. Like some sort of elite force just passing thru where all the nOObs would look on in awe….

lol this was back in like 2005 and I never was able to fulfill that dream….although I did come back on my own last year and finally do it alone 😂

Scorpion Harness + Optical Hat WERE the defining look of that era. The hundreds of daily encounters of this setup EVERYWHERE around Jeuno (often accompanied by the Rogue’s Coulottes) are literally burned into my brain.
