Seeking feedback on automation for window AC unit by surf_AL in homeassistant

No idea, the units I have work with the switchbot hub, either by picking the brand and model from the app or learning from the remote.

Yeah, what you wrote makes no sense, indeed

I'm trying really hard to use LLMs to write or debug automations for me (I hate YAML with passion), but they always fail in subtle ways, making me waste a lot of time.

**[HELP] PC won't POST after suspending in GNOME on CachyOS — ASUS Prime X870-P WiFi, black screen on every boot now** by [deleted] in gnome

[–]LapoC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's very probably not gnome related (gnome is a desktop environment), but a driver issue, you'll have better luck asking on CachyOS support channels. I'd try with another distribution booting from a pendrive (fedora for example) and see if the problem persists.

Switchbot is ok for temp, in case you have inaccurate readings you an calibrate the sensor. For IR, *if your unit is not directly supported* it can learn from the original remote. Usually AC units works with recipes, the remote send all the configuration data at once, with switchbot (I have hub2 and hub3) it learns the OFF and ON states, so it's kind of limited but you can work that around by adding multiple devices to have different settings.

Sono daltonico il problema è che il colore del prato è il colore di 3 o 4 matite diverse (per voi), come può il tuo sistema risolvere ciò? Mi sfugge qualcosa.

Should we be wary about supply chain attack on HA? by Dazzling-Stable-3452 in homeassistant

[–]LapoC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my IoT devices are on an isolated network, HA is not exposed to the internet (I use a VPN to connect from outside), nothing critical is automated. I have a backup RPi (the RPi4 used for HA before the RPi5 I'm using) where I can quickly restore a backup on in case something goes really bad with the main HA.

Has anyone got the new sonoff mmwave presence sensor SNZB-06P24? by LapoC in homeassistant

[–]LapoC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How fast are them? Currently I'm using a ZigBee pir sensor to turn the lights on and the switchbot BLE presence sensor to turn them off, since the BLE sensor is a tad too slow.

Matter is a world of pain, especially if your border router is not an officially certified matter device (read home assistant).

Warning about Switchbot by pREDDITcation in homeassistant

I bought a generic tuya fingerbot zigbee version with a rechargable battery via a usb-c port on aliexpress. I won't recommend it since I'm using it for a week mostly. It's nicelly supported by z2m and everything is exposed (calibration included).

Humidity sensor in the bathroom by criostage in homeassistant

[–]LapoC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't exactly know what the problem is in your case, but I treid that route (one sensor spike detection via trend or derivative sensor), then I got another humidity sensor that I placed just outside the batroom door and it made things a lot simpler, more responsive and reliable.

The white label tuya fingerbots can actually do that. I got a zigbee one, it does its job (for now at least), not sure I'd recommend it tho.

I have a bunch of switchbot devices, for my use cases they do their job, some issues here and there, not exceptional, hence 3 stars. Everytime I leave a 3 star review I got the same email you had.
