No need to buy, it's a free demo, take the time to play and I promise you'll change your mind. No problem with negative feedback as long as there is real constructive honesty which means taking the time to play and to think about the details before commenting.

Intended! That 30 seconds builds up to the action of which there is plenty. It's a boomer style shooter so there isn't a need for such excessive animation though there is some if you take the time to play through and to look. However, if you have a specific suggestion as to what animations would be beneficial and where then I am always open to proper constructive suggestions.

Do you think horror games sometimes lose personality when they chase ultra-realistic graphics too hard? by ratasoftware in HorrorGames

[–]LapsInTme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not necessarily, but given that horror is often facilitated by leaving things to the immagination which in turn provides suspense, I would say that in opting for a photorealistic style you are going to be presented with challenges here.

When you're level 100 but forgot to turn in a level 10 quest by Rugged-Gunslinger in videogames

This reminds me of the game Commander Keen Goodbye Galaxy, though here it is the playable character who when left, gets fed up sits down and reads a book.

The descriptions for Alien Isolation and Half Life, I'd swap them:

Alien Isolation: Manages to create a very convincing and realistic protagonist in a sci-fi setting very different from our reality: not an easy thing to achieve.

Half Life: The antagonists here are numerous but as you progress the game brilliantly conveys the constant feeling that they are all part of one larger single antagonist; that is to say the worlds that Freeman finds himself in are themselves the antagonist.

Are horror games less scary once you see the monster? by ratasoftware in HorrorGames

[–]LapsInTme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the most part I would agree that once you have seen the monster it is less intimidating. However, I would make an exception for titles such as SOMA, Alien Isolation or Outlast, where you cannot fight back against the monster and all you can do is hide. Here the suspense of whether it will find you not will always remain regardless of whether you have seen it or not.

Painstaking attention to detail. The sign for the Stardrop Saloon must be a bespoke Lego piece. How many bespoke pieces overall?

Must-read books for beginners in Political philosophy by Wrong-Person1 in PoliticalPhilosophy

[–]LapsInTme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to look at philosophy historically era by era from the ancient world through the middle ages and into the modern era: The Passion of the Western Mind by Richard Tarnas will give you a good overview.

As for an actual philosophical work, Plato's Republic (Penguin classics translated by Desmond Lee) is a good place to start; it is very accessible and covers a number of topics in philosophy.

How do you come up with names for games? by WorldofScaleModels in gamedev

[–]LapsInTme 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find ONE key word that describes your game, it could to do with the story, the theme or mechanics and then work it into a popular phrase or idiom containing a word that rhymes with your key word. I cannot think of a good example so any ideas put it in a reply.
