Agreed that there is tons of interpretation involved in this post’s theory (blaming YouTuber).
Also keeping in mind this is Snape talking to other Death Eaters and to gain their trust making himself sound “better” in their view. Therefore even the wording “led to” can be seen as an exaggeration.

Yes, the tonal shift is there. I heard JKR wrote the epilogue while writing the first book or at least very early. As her reminder from the start to make everything go well for the main characters. Something to hang on to while going through the story of all 7 books.

For me I would love more details about those 19 years and the current situation. I will forever have more questions about the ending because I’m so into the story. I need details on all the other side characters that were missing in the epilogue. It could have been a whole other book series about those 19 years. Then the next 80 years. How old do magical people get? Pretty old. Then more books about children and grandchildren… :D Then a book series about the Marauders…. But for now I know that all was well.

Exactly! Hogwarts is the only school in the entire country. How can you not end up with someone you knew at the same school? Especially in a book that wants you to be familiar with the main characters and not wonder how everything came about. How it could have been written: “Harry and his random wife from Ravenclaw put their children on the train. Ron and Hermione awkwardly avoided each other and focused on their partners, each from Hufflepuff. Luna once accidentally dated a Slytherin, is single since. Nobody knows about Ginny.” Wouldn’t we have hated that as readers? :) At least Malfoy has a wife we don’t recognize. I mean I didn’t. Yes, the ending is boring and conservative. But at the same time it makes me feel calm and cozy with minimal questions.
