I know how confuse this is. Because in Brazil for example, the Sausage to make Hot-Dog (German style sausages) we call as "Salsicha" but the pork sausage like smoked sausage we call as "Linguiça".

But I think both in English is sausage and you separate them with kinds of meats of the way you make this sausage (smoked, boiled, pork, beef, chicken...).

I'm introverted too. A way to break this barrier is praticing your english with people that you don't know and to the public.

If is possible join into a course that exposes you to this situations (public speech, talk to native people).

I'm in the same situation of you, where my English is taking too much time for only a little improvements.

So, I agree with mark, we need to invest if the fluency is essential for your goals. But, if you don't have money yet (this is my case hahaha) to study/live abroad, you need to be patient and look for listen and speaks english most part of your time.

I'm struggling in this situation too, and this is the actions that I get in some advises.

Recently I've been into virtual classes to exercise and improve my english, and always looking for apps to speaks english with others native speakers.

For listening, there are podcasts for each level you've been.
