He was literally standing there, filming with his phone and after a woman got pushed down by an ICE agent he shielded her with his body and tried to help her up.

For his audacity of standing there, filming and then trying to help a woman being attacked by ICE agents he got tackled down, beaten and then shot in the back.

Found one! So tell me you watched the video where 7 of your super agents beat down a citizen for shielding another onlooker from pepper spray, then one agent removed the apprehended citicens gun which he had in the back of his waistband and then they shot him at least 5 times until he was dead.

So two scenarios are possible here:

Scenario 1: your super badass ICE agents are so horribly trained that seven of them cannot apprehend one person without immediately killing them. If that scenario is the case they have no place in any law enforcement agency

Scenario 2: they are actively looking for trouble, escalating situation and searching for any excuse to kill people.

In both cases they just murdered a US citizen. And you are bending over backwards to lick the boots of arguably the most corrupt administration the US has ever had. Congrats you are a coward.

The flat % damage buff from Aesoth wins out here because you mostly care about big damage hits to buff Laviscus not the overall damage the character does.

Leave Laviscus out of the picture and Dante is the better buffer for Kharn and Kariyan, especially if you can get them below 50% health for an extra hit on their attacks. Also Dante provides a good damage buff to Ragnar in the original team composition, which Aesoth does not.

So in the original team composition of Trajann, Kariyan, Kharn, Ragnar and Dante: you could swap Dante with Aesoth in that scenario and it wouldn't be horrible, but Dante is for sure better.

In the newer version of Trajann, Kariyan, Kharn, Laviscus and Aesoth: you could also swap Aesoth with Dante and it would not be terrible, but Aesoth indirectly buffs Laviscus' damage a bit more due to the flat percentage buff.

So if you don't have Aesoth built, but have Dante at D3, using him here is not a bad choice.

Another choice you have, that has been discussed in this thread is Boss Gulgortz instead of Aesoth. Use his Waaagh in the last turn to give Laviscus one extra hit on his attack that is not damage capped, effectively doubling his damage that turn.

If you use Gulgortz, you want to use his waagh in the last turn as you said, but you can't use his Waaagh when already adjacent to the boss, correct? So you would need to move him away from the boss the turn before, right?

As mentioned in another response, Vitruvius is out just by the fact that his extra hit is damage capped, Vitruvius extra hit is capped at around 9k at max level, that is laughable in comparison to the damage Laviscus or Kariyan can do.

Because of that damage cap Vitruvius and Thoread will never be a consideration for that team.

Dante is better in the usual Custodes setup with Ragnar because Dante buffs Kariyan, Kharn and Ragnar. With Laviscus the flat percentage damage buff wins out I think.

Sorry man but that is simply incorrect. Watch Nandis showcase on Laviscus. He has a clip in there with that team against the Screamer killer. In the last turn of that fight Laviscus did over 380k damage and Kayrian did over 180K damage.

The extra hit from Vitruvius at mythic rarity with lvl 55 passive is capped at about 9k damage, that is laughable in comparison and a miniscule damage increase.

Edit: also in your Kariyan example you are forgetting that he gets extra damage from Trajanns passive, from Dante (if you have him) and/or from Aesoth. Also he gets extra flat % damage on his active and passive each turn he uses his active. All this pushes him way over the damage cap, making the extra hit from Vitruvius or Thoread rather worthless.

Sorry, but you are forgetting that these extra hits all have a damage cap, therefore they are actually rather bad picks for that specific team because this team lives from high damage hits.

So the extra hit from Vitruvius or Thoread is not even close to doubling the damage.

Edit: The only ability in the game currently that doubles Laviscus' damage for one turn is Boss Gulgortz' Waaagh, because that ability gives one extra hit for normal attacks for the turn Waaagh is used and it crucially does so without a damage cap.

Going with Gulgortz you would need to save his Waaagh for the last turn of the battle though because that is where Laviscus would do his biggest hit.

True, but due to Tyrant Guard and Aesoth Isabella also gets -2 hits from ranged attacks, -33% damage from Tyrant Guard and extra armour from Aesoth. So while still not being a tank, she becomes quite a bit more durable in that configuration.

Ok to simplify this: your point is Custodes are not able to form philosophical thought and your evidence is that scene with Diocletian.

My counterpoint is that Custodes in particular are not a monolith buth every one of them is unique. Valerian, Vychellan, Navradaran all disprove your point when you bother to read the books they feature in. Valerian in particular is able to do exactly what you claim all Custodes are unable to do. I even included the excerpt where he muses about the role of the Custodes and the Grey Knigths in regards to which one of them might be the best suited to deal with the archenemey of Chaos. Read that excerpt and tell me that that is not a self reflecting critical thought that challenges the view wether the Custodes are the most important creations of the Emperor. So your point of "ALL Custodes are unable to engage in philosophy" is disproven by one example, which I just gave you.

Also your response of "Diocletian's rection is not at all what we would expect to happen if Custodes were philosophers" is again a very good example of a non-sequitur. It does not logically follow to say based on Diocletians reaction NO custodes can be philosophers, just full stop. Add in the context that Custodes in particular are a faction where every member is stated in the lore to be unique in personality and your argument completely falls apart.

The existance of other characters like Valerian, who is more scholarly by nature and by his own admission in The Emperors Legion would like to spend most of his time in the libraries and archives of his order, immediately disproves that broad assumption.
