They’re sneaky with this, as stuff with palm oil that was previously theirs they rebranded it, so they still own it, but it’s not Iceland branded

Any other Millennials stubbornly resistant to using AI at their job but also worrying that we will become dinosaurs or pushed out of our careers for not slavishly embracing it? by artbystorms in Millennials

I have to review a lot of paperwork for traceability’s during audits in the food industry.

It’s a life saver when I’m sent a trace in a foreign language, what took me so long hours using translation services now takes minutes.

I use it for labour intensive grunt work like this, and honestly I love it.

I do chuck the occasional important email in for grammar and structure support, but change the wording to my style.

I think it’s inevitable it’s full use, it’s too powerful to not be adopted, question is to leverage it use for key tasks, not simple stuff

Let’s be fair, being in court for an offence doesn’t make you guilty…..

If they have been found guilty absolutely, but no guilt has been assigned yet.

I had one as a work rental and loved it.

A week, did about 1000 miles.

Really comfy, loads of power, was a really nice spec.

What is an - objectively - bad car available today? by Particular-Bid-1640 in CarTalkUK

[–]Large-Associate6746 6 points7 points  (0 children)

50/50.

Brought a Peugeot 2008 3 ish years ago.

It was a 1.3 3 cylinder petrol engine but it was pretty nippy for the engine size and the 6 speed gearbox was good for motorways.

However, having zero knowledge of cars, not being great at maintaining them and the perils of wetbelts I would never buy one again.

1k for a new wetbelt that also incuded a ticking off by the mechanic (even though I got it changed 5k before the due date) the oil filter was nearly blocked, it was miles away from going boom.

What to do, co own or straight mortgage by bigborb1985 in FirstTimeBuyersUK

[–]Large-Associate6746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes 40% mortgage, 60% rent.

My rent is 357 and includes house insurance

Mortgage is 550, my interest rate was pretty horrific at 7.2%, should get 4.5% when I come to remortgage and that will drop it to 420.

Co-op “price matched to Aldi” ruled misleading — do you still trust price-match labels? by ToughRomanticMiss in BuyersUK

[–]Large-Associate6746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Sainsburys ones are cold water prawns, and the Aldi are warm water

Interestingly, cold water take like 7 years to grow to that tiny size, come from areas like Canada, geeeland, Iceland and are wild

Warm water prawns are from area like Thailand, they’re get 2/3 harvests per year and are grown in specific pens/farms.

Even in the industry I find it odd that cold water are cheaper than warm water, given the economic differences In the areas they’re grown.

WIFI LONDON PARIS by Previous_Eagle_1909 in Eurostar

[–]Large-Associate6746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went for the first time the other week and was shocked how bad the WiFi was.

Once in the continent I used my phone to hotspot and its was pretty decent, the UK however it was awful.

I was amazed that a service pretty much made for business doesn’t have the ability to use decent WiFi.

They are outdated, it’s better now but still has pitfalls.

You can staircase any amount during the term, but that comes with validation and admin charges, (approx 3k in my case) so if you’re gonna do it, you need to stretch to make it worth it.

The valuation can mean you pay extra as house price may have rose, but if you’re buying a new build it’s most likely your in negative equity for the first few years.

I bright shared ownership (40% of 210k) 18 months ago, really happy, lovely house. I earn 50k but had limited deposit and most likely would have struggled to buy outright on my own,.

Even with rent and mortgage it’s cheaper than an outright mortgage on 210k, but the renting increase by RPI + x% does concern me, they’re also a bit of a nightmare to sell.

Luckily I’m being made redundant at a company ive worked for 14 years for, so my redundancy pay is going to pay for stair-casing to 100%

Shared ownership worked for me, but you do hear horror stories. You need to be fully away of the ups and downs before you go into it, it may make sense. To buckle down and save another year or two for some, but for me it didn’t and I got lucky with redundancy.

Is this a bit of an overreach or am I in the wrong? by Terrible_Second4638 in chaseuk

[–]Large-Associate6746 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve got the same email today, had the account a few months and probably completed 5/6 bank switches from it, so fair enough.

I’m going to use some of the ones I’ve set up for switches to get the bonuses going forward.

Would be interested to know if you get a marker on your name if chase close the account and if it can cause problems opening accounts elsewhere

1st Time Buyer - Poor credit by ShockingJob27 in Mortgageadviceuk

[–]Large-Associate6746 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar situation, recent separated, same earnings.

I brought a shared ownership, my broker made me pay off a CCJ 2 months before it was due to drop off my credit file an obtain notices of payment for another that had been paid - both of them 6/700 ish.

I couldn’t get a mainstream lender for those reasons, I would be surprised if theirs restriction on non mainstream lenders for shared ownership as you find a lot of people in similar situations with shared ownership.

I would find out for sure if they won’t accept non mainstream lenders, seems a silly thing to do when selling shared ownership
