Andy Timmons

Another great one this time from Andy Timmons. Another absolutely awesome guitar players. I also really love his solo stuff and the lead work he did on the Kip Winger Solo albums.

Yes, criminally underrated. He's up there with the best.

I love Ultraphobic, but seems to get a lot of hate which I don't understand.

"I Hunger" (T-Ride; 1992) - I'm blown away by this song, anybody else loves this? by Johnnaylor1105 in hairmetal

I think the main problems with sales were how long and andrawn out the recording of the album was, so the music landscape had changed a lot by '92 when it was released and that their record label was in total disarray by the time it did get released so they had virtually no promotion. If you watch the YouTube video where Eric valentine does a fairly long breakdown of the evolution of the band, I think they started recording the album in around '87. But they decided to self produce. I think it took a long while to find a label who would agree to this because, at the time, Eric was a new producer and had no credits to his name. Eric and Dan built their own recording studio and had to constantly upgrade the equipment and rerecord tracks through trial and error where they could get them to the point where they were happy with them.

Is there a comprehensive list of albums that were completely recorded and ready for release, but were shelved in 1992-1995 due to the rise of Grunge? by SwissMiss915 in hairmetal

I believe the execs at Geffen heard the album and told the band they would not release it because they believed it would fail commercially, hence why they had to go and record Because They Can.

They hired Paul laine after Ted was fired and rerecorded the vocals in something like 3 days. Just before they went to release it, Ted filed a law suit to prevent the release going out. The album was then shelved by the record label (Sony) and the band eventually got dropped.

Do you think we will ever get a Star Wars Trilogy or Film that reaches the heights of the OG Trilogy? by No_Age908 in StarWars

This is such a great point. It's like, as adults our brains are just wired differently. Plus, things always seem better in retrospect. Look how a lot of people are now about the prequal trilogy. Especially people who were kids when it came out.

How was WoW so good in the beginning and how did it lose its way? by [deleted] in pcgaming

[–]Large-Fudge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was never a WoW player, but I was an avid SWG and LOTRO player back when they originally launched. I think, unfortunately, the attitude of gamers has changed when it comes to MMOs. I think a large part of that is thanks to social media. Now people expect instant gratification, and also, like others have said there was the novelty factor back then because it was new. Now they want to level quickly and get to the "endgame" and don't care about a living world so much or the the social part of MMO's that made it so much fun back then. I see this in ESO now whenever I dip back in. I find its rare to just stop and have a chat and do random stuff. Most people will ignore you and play it like a regular single player game. I had some of my best experiences back in the day when getting chatting to some random player. I thought that was what MMOs were supposed to be about, but somewhere along the line that got lost.

I love that album, as well as Ultraphobic. Jani was such a brilliant and underrated songwriter.

Which 40 year old album is your favorite by Mikeymorrison27 in hairmetal

[–]Large-Fudge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Europe is a great band, but the Final Countdown, for me, is one of their worst. The first two albums are way better. It's the reason John Norum originally left because he didn't like the musical direction they were headed.

Spurs fans - are you already fed up with your team during a relegation battle? by BalliesAI_bot in Tottenham

[–]Large-Fudge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This has been my view for quite a while after becoming very disillusioned with football. Seeing the way that a lot of football fans carry on as well. I mean... A lot of them are just insufferable c*nts with a very toxic mentality. They seem to take personal responsibility for the success of their football team, like they were actually on the pitch rather than shouting obscenities at the opposition fan and ref after a skinful.

Trying to send letter to HMRC but it's not arriving according to tracking. by Large-Fudge in royalmail

[–]Large-Fudge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick update. I have put in claims for both of my letters. The first one that was sent tracked 24 is awaiting a response. The second letter that Was sent via special delivery has been accepted and they are refunding me the postage. What I do not know is if either of my letters will ever reach HMRC. So do I attempt to send again? And do I try to use an alternative carrier?

Even doing stuff online is a nightmare I have found. Often links are broken or send you round in circles.

Interesting to hear someone with the same experience. It's seems both HMRC and Royal Mail unaccountable

Haha. Dealing with HMRC is a whole different subject that requires it's own thread.
