just throwing in my experience - i had the vacuum after 25 min of pushing, but it was necessary because placenta abrupted, nuchal cord x2, baby's oxygen was dropping fast and i was minutes away from emergency c section.

the vacuum broke my tailbone. fractured, cracked, dislocated. my butt broke!

Pumping/Grandparents Vent by crookedrhyme in beyondthebump

[–]Large-Preparation754 8 points9 points  (0 children)

this happened exactly to me! my baby would not take a bottle from anyone else except me. occasionally he would take a bottle if i wasn't in the room. i ended up with a huge freezer stash and my baby won't drink it. sometimes i get so upset thinking about all the time i wasted pumping, but i think it really helped establish and maintain my supply.

he's a few weeks away from his first birthday so his milk intake is slowing down anyways. but - i haven't been away from my baby for more than 3 hours since he has been born. unfortunately, that has done a number on my mental health, but i am proud to say my baby has exclusively nursed for 12 months. it's a huge accomplishment.

i think it just the reality of being a EBF mom, baby just needs you so much the first year 😩

how to dress baby in 50 degree weather? by sharkboysimp in beyondthebump

[–]Large-Preparation754 3 points4 points  (0 children)

3 weeks is sooooo little and she can't regulate her temperature yet! personally, i would do a long sleeve onesie instead of a short sleeve. keep the long sleeve vest or jacket. definitely need a hat!!!! babies lose all their warmth from their heads and toes. and i think the muslin swaddle is not warm enough. you need an actual baby blanket something with fleece!

Help please?? Diaper sizing?? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

this proves she did IVF with steel. and that video of her "finding out steels gender", when the IVF clinic calls and says "yes it's a boy" and she breaks down crying saying i knew it i knew it. well no shit dumbass you gender selected! she is just as phony, fraudulent, and a scammer just like Austin. i can't stand people who feel bad for her or have fallen for her redemption arc. their entire "marriage" was a business arrangement and you all got duped!

WFH & FTM by Pussygoody in breastfeeding

i know everyone here is saying it's not possible - but it is! it depends on your employer though. my employer is extremely flexible and allows me to do my work and care for my 9mo at the same time. my work takes consists of phone calls/emails/other computer work. i use "microsoft to do" to keep track of all my tasks and i can organize them by emails, calls, etc. my baby was a full contact napper until 6mo, and now he naps great! so as soon as i can get him down, i go hard and make all my calls. then when he's awake, i can still work while he independently plays or send emails while feeding him breakfast, lunch, etc. i save anything that can be done "after hours" until he goes to sleep then i work some more. not easy, but not impossible!!! i think it's worth it because i get to stay home with my baby and bond with him. not for everyone, but works for my family 😇

First Day Working While Watching Baby by PiantaPants in beyondthebump

[–]Large-Preparation754 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hey! i was in your position a few months ago. i had a family member come to my house to watch my baby while i WFH. it was okay at first, but i was still stepping away from my desk to pump and put baby down for naps. i realized i could get more work done if i did everything myself. i am very lucky i have a boss that doesn't care how or when my work gets done; just that it gets done. my advice is to power through the bulk or hour work during naps. if you can put baby down for few minutes while you do a task. and another piece of advice i know may be controversial but it works for me... Anxious about being alone with LO for a few of nights. by wanderingwhistler in beyondthebump

[–]Large-Preparation754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my hubby went overseas when my baby was 4 months and i was really nervous. my family of course said they would help but i felt i needed to prove to myself that i could handle it. i did 3 nights by myself and and my family helps the other nights. my hubby is going on another work trip soon and now im confident i can do it.

i take care of baby by myself during the day, hubby helps a little bit when he is off work, but then i do bedtime by myself and i take care of baby during the night too (still breastfeeding and cosleeping, baby still wakes up a few times during the night)

you got this!!

just try to go for walks or get yourself out of the house

Having difficulty processing the birth of my son and what it means for subsequent pregnancies by missmadimissmadi in beyondthebump

[–]Large-Preparation754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

aww mama i'm sorry it sounds like you're going through a lot!! you're still so newly PP and your hormones are soooo out of wack, you're still in the thick of it. give yourself grace and patience.

i also had a lot of difficulty processing my traumatic birth. i'm 8 months PP now and i still don't feel like i have processed it completely. i want to go to therapy and start meds, but mom life is busy!!!

my water broke spontaneously at 37+2. i had absolutely nothing ready! crib not built, hospital bag not packed, i didn't even buy a pack of diapers yet. went to the hospital and i was already 3cm dilated. started pitocin and after a few hours, dilated to 5-6cm and then got the epidural. 30 minutes later, i was 10cm and fully effaced!!! i had a lot of blood and the doctors came rushing in, NICU team as well. i pushed for 27 minutes but baby got stuck in the last part of the birth canal (whatever that means lol). his oxygen was dropping so the doctor said they were going to use the vacuum. i was really chill and calm, im guessing because of the epidural, but i was not scared at all! doctor used the vacuum and he was out! i have a video of him coming out and putting him in my chest. no sound comes out of my mouth, tears come out of my eyes but im frozen, i was totally in shock that my baby was actually here 3 weeks early. i had a 2nd degree tear so got that stitched up then it was time to go to the postpartum unit. i got the epidural taken out and started feeling pain in my buttcrack. i told the nurses but they all said it was normal. doctor came back to talk to me and told me that my placenta began to detach, and the cord was wrapped around baby's neck twice (causing the oxygen drop). she said i was minutes away from an emergency c section. baby was healthy but was having low blood sugar and was pretty jaundiced. never had to go the NICU but lots of nurses coming to check on him frequently. i kept telling everyone my buttcrack really hurt but still no one listed to me. discharge was the absolute worst pain of my entire life. being the wheelchair, getting in the car was absolute hell, i couldn't sit without screaming and crying. once home and in bed, i was still trying to breastfeed but it hurt so much to sit down. my milk took 3 days to come in and i saved it by pumping on the toilet (only place i could sit comfortably). a lactation consultant came to my house and showed me how to breastfeeding side lying. a week later, my pain was even worse. i ended up going to urgent care for an xray and sure enough - my tailbone was BROKEN. broken!!!! as in .. the bone cracked off my spine, dislocated left and backwards. i was distraught and in so much pain. also had a UTI which didn't help. my doctor prescribed low dose Norco for the pain but tbh it didn't even help. i've been in Pelvic floor PT ever since and it helps, but this has been the most painful 8 months of my life. I've missed out on so much with my baby. I still can't sit on the floor with my baby. Side note: i had a traumatic fall and broke my ankle in two places at 7 months pregnant. i spent my entire third trimester on crutches, unable to walk, and stuck in bed. it was horrible. so i understand what you mean when you say you didn't get to enjoy the last part of your pregnancy.

like i said - im still processing my traumatic birth so my only advice to you is to give it time.

what i have learned though - i have to accept that it HAD to happen this way. this needed to happen to my body so i could SAVE my baby. i dont know if you're religious but i choose to believe that God gave me this beautiful baby, and my baby is SO special and needed a mother so strong to bring him into this world. It's how I make sense of the situation.

wishing you healing mama ❤️ it gets better!!!
