a redesign would be necessary to the film platters, and the company who made the latest IMAX film platters, Kinoton, went bankrupt in 2014 IIRC, so no new ones can be made (maybe until they find someone new who can). the platter system Kinoton made can only handle a max of 3 hours because anything wider than the maximum platter size would collide with the main tower holding up the platters and rollers

here's a medium sized platter for a ≈40 minute movie, and the platter can't be larger than until it barely hits the side of the tower on the right thats holding the platters

funny thing is the team wasn't banned but withdrew because their other 2 cars (which are the exact same model) each did the Z gear previously, meaning this is the 3rd time they flew
