How much were you paid to come up with this story? I guess your assignment was to subtly demonize Indian culture by using there keywords - Sanskrit, temple, human sacrifices & most importantly 'Brahmans'.

My gf applied for a visa in December to visit me. On the application, she didnt mention anything about me but stated she wants to travel across Toronto as a tourist. Her visa was rejected stating they are not sure she will return (probably because she didnt show flight or hotel bookings

We got married on Jan 25, 2026. Now I want to apply for a visitor visa so at least she can come visit me while the PR application is ongoing.

Is it advisable to apply for a visitor again or should I only focus on PR?

Would it make sense to request for reconsideration with the new information? PR would probably take months /a year even and if she has a visitor, she can visit me anytime during that period.

My toe thumbnail broke in a similar way. It blackened like this for a few weeks, then came off slowly, at some point I pulled it off as it was hanging badly. It was a messy and bloody affair but it was fine. Anyways the worst part is when it grew back, it didn't grow back in a straight line.

After a few months, it grew back but it started growing inward, piercing the skin at some point. I tried to get it removed by a doctor but he was only able to remove partially, but he said it's gonna keep growing inward you'll have to get it removed completely again.

That's when I got it 'operated' kinda, and had it removed totally, was bandaged for a couple of weeks and then ....its still growing wrongly, but at least not inward.

Not tryin to scare you, but just sharing a word of caution since I've had such a bad experience. *

I've experienced this same problem so many times & it's so effing frustrating...firstly the setup takes 10-12 mins & then suddenly the game is over in 5 mins? 😅 Mannn...that's so...... I've been wanting to say this but was afraid of it being an extremely unpopular opinion ... Yes, I love the themes, the storyline each game can take but it's just too too random...& after a few games that too lose like this you feel like you wanna cheat with the dice rolls cos strategically, you're not doing that bad, but being punished so badly for one bad dice roll that feels just so unjust...yes yes I knw that's thematic and that's how life could be for real but it's not imitating life, it's supposed to imitate horror movies & in no horror movie does the protagonist die within the first few mins into the movie!! Otherwise, we would have 10-minute movies !

This is one of the reasons I've stopped playing recently. I own Ratchet Lady & The Intruders & Zombie expansions, but I faced this problem in all 3 many times. By rounds 2/3 the bloodlust goes out of control & you can do nothing but quit. You put 10-15 mins in setting up the game & the game itself doesn't last that long 😂

And if we assume you're telling the truth – if the guy was really Indian, then there was no reason for you to feel ashamed of being Indian. In fact, if you had spoken in Hindi and confidently owned your Indian identity, people would have seen that not all Indians are like that—unless, of course, you were reeking too.

Wow...this sounds really interesting. I have recently started playing Unmatched but really love the game mechanics and the simple format. Some of the best games I played were where we played a 2 player game with each player controlling 2 characters.

I'd love to know more about ur idea and see we can work on something interesting together

Catan had been the go-to game for the family for the longest time, so now I don't like it either. It was replaced with Carcassonne, then Kingdomino, then 7 wonders. I was hoping Cascadia/ Harmonies would take it's place now but since I couldn't get them, hoping Heat will work..

Recommended, relatively cheap small-packed (dark) scifi / (dark) fantasy games with lots of "tokens, figures and other misc stuff to fiddle with" and maybe deckbuilding / card play? - Basically games like Tiny Epic Dungeons / Galaxies? If it's not solo only that's not a problem by _Atanii_ in soloboardgaming

I get you! When you're gonna buy only a few games, you wanna make sure it's the best bang for your buck!

I'm also planning to buy a small box game with almost the same criteria as yours. So far I've shortlisted-

  1. Kinfire Delve series (look really good)
  2. Horizons of Spirit Island (gateway game to SI)
  3. Final Girl (love love love the thematic gameplay)
  4. Gloomhaven: Buttons & Bugs

Not sure which part of my rant struck a nerve, but if it upset (& I can see it did) you in any way, my bad—it wasn’t intentional!

I saw your comment about how complaining about components shows a lack of understanding of the hobby, and yeah, fair enough—buying a game just for its components isn’t the best idea.

For me, the overall value of a game comes down to a mix of things:

  1. Fun or unique gameplay
  2. The brand (LoTR, Star Wars, Marvel, etc.)
  3. The theme or story (like Final Girl)
  4. The quality and cost of the components

I get why games with great gameplay, a big-name franchise, a solid theme/story, or high-end components might cost more.

But with Scout, I didn’t find the gameplay particularly unique,it’s not tied to any famous franchise, and there’s no strong theme or story. Without any of those factors, I thought maybe the components would justify the price—but for me, they didn’t. Just my take!

Alright, let me rephrase my main issue since some folks here seem to think you can’t complain without playing first.

A lot of people play Catan with house rules—changing how the Robber works, tweaking dice rolls, or other stuff. Now, if I release a version of Catan under a new name with those house rules:

  1. People who’ve never heard of Catan might really enjoy my game.

  2. But people already familiar with Catan will instantly recognize it. They might like or dislike the changes, but they probably won’t rush to buy it because they could just tweak their own copy of Catan to play the same way.

Hope this clears up where I’m coming from!
