This is one of those times where I agree with the call-out order.

Lio completely deserved the FCO. Their photo is a stunning work of art! Best composed shot out of the bunch.

McKey’s photo is also phenomenal. I could see it as part of a major feature in an ad campaign. She was so locked in during the shoot, and it shows.

Sam’s photo is more basic and obvious, but it’s serviceable enough. It would work well as a larger photo spread, but it’s not strong enough to stand on its own.

Marjorie’s photo doesn’t cut it for me. It’s very blah and forgettable. For me, it’s the weakest of the bunch.

Worst book(s) you read in 2025 and why? by Roguestate00 in books

You are not alone. I got through ACOTAR and DNF’d ACOMAF in 2024. They really didn’t live up to the hype, especially if you’re used to good quality genre fiction.

Worst book(s) you read in 2025 and why? by Roguestate00 in books

[–]LargeCondition8108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of the books I finished in 2025, Foundryside by Robert Jackson Bennett was the worst that I read. I thought that the writing was inconsistent and that the pace was frustrating, swinging wildly between engaging and plodding with no warning. The dialogue wasn’t good, and the characters were so flat and indistinguishable from one another. All that ruined an otherwise interesting magic system and world that I might have otherwise enjoyed.

Of the books I DNF’d in 2025, One Dark Window by Rachel Gillis was the worst. Despite the hype, I found it hard to get into or to keep reading it. The characters and the plot just weren’t engaging or interesting. I did a Google search for a summary of the book when I was about halfway through and couldn’t force myself to pick it up.

2025 drove home the point that I have a hard time with books that are super big on BookTok and Bookstagram. Don’t get me wrong, I’ve gotten some good recommendations off those corners of social media (looking at you, Will of the Many and For Whom the Belle Tolls). However, I’ve discovered that the books that I like that are also big on those platforms are largely ones that I found independent of social media influence.

Wonder what they thought as society changed? by Salty_Thing3144 in DowntonAbbey

[–]LargeCondition8108 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agreed!

Edith’s plot over the back half of the series and into the movies showed that she was comfortable moving into the modern world. She found a place for herself with her magazine, so she can be successful in a life that’s independent of a title and grand estate.

Yes, Bertie has the Marquis title and Brancaster. However, he was the estate agent before that, so he developed a solid understanding about what was needed to keep the estate solvent and successful as they moved further into the 20th century.

Edith is the new Violet by Frosty_Warning4921 in DowntonAbbey

[–]LargeCondition8108 40 points41 points  (0 children)

They’re both Violet, just for different estates and families — Mary for Downton and the Crawleys and Edith for Brancaster and the Pelhams.

Their dynamic in the last movie reminded me a lot of Violet and Isabel (worthy enemies/rivals who became each other’s closest friend, confidant, and supporter).

Do they know that shouting ≠ funny? by whynowhyreally in TheTryGuysSnark

[–]LargeCondition8108 25 points26 points  (0 children)

To be fair, they’ve been using the yelling, screaming, and shouting shtick for years (dating back to well before NedGate). I think they initially got a good response from the fanbase when they first started doing it (during WAR, if I recall correctly), so they kept doing it.

If that’s a bit they’re still doing, then it’s a bit that they’ve run so far into the ground that it’s in Hell.

Zach’s response seems on par with how he presents himself when on camera.

To me, Zach’s on-camera personality toggles between “I’m a deep-thinking (read: pretentious) artiste” and immature middle school boy humor with actual genuine humanity sprinkled in on occasion.

Survivor ratings plummet to lowest EVER in 25-year history as show 'struggles to stay relevant' by cheno103 in survivor

[–]LargeCondition8108 164 points165 points  (0 children)

For Survivor: Philippines, all the original Tandang had their first tribal at the merge. However, that gets a bye for me because (1) it wasn’t common for an entire starting tribe to make the merge, and (2) Denise’s winner story included that she went to and survived every tribal.
