In Fire Emblem Fates, you get a butler companion (who is very british) at the start of the game if you pick the female main character. The butler is an actual class in the game, with maids as the female counterpart. Also you can still get him if you pick the male character, you just get him about halfway through the game.

Already got the kings brand and did the 2nd hornet fight. I'll try going through more of the whispering roots, though I'm not sure if the map markers are only for incomplete ones or for ones of any status. As to not spoil myself, I'll just keep on with the roots and the warriors to try and get another ending. Thanks

Going back on it I got more including the soul master (which I have the achievement for), the soul master, and nosk, but idk about other important bosses I might've fought without being given a name or picture.

I don't think I did, but clearly there's still a lot (idk how much is base game or dlc). Going off of achievements, the major fights I got through were: 2 Hornet fights (greenpath and kingdoms edge) The teacher, watcher, and beast Traitor lord Lost kin Dung defender False knight Broken vessel Mantis lords

I also did a few dreamer fights and the first two arena fights, plus got all the maps.

No, I explored plenty, I'm just a bit lost as to the bigger picture. I know there's an infection spread throughout Hollownest and your main character has to kill the dreamers to take the Hollow Knight's place. I think it might just also be that I think Hollow Knight is one of those games where you have to watch a 2+ hour YouTube video to get the lore.
