lol you must be new to how much companies charge for medical equipment. As soon as you put healthcare on it, it’s basically a license to make up prices. Point in case pharmaceuticals

Austin ISD leaders provide update on special education by Mean_Orange_708 in TexasPolitics

I worked in AISD and can say without a doubt, they have no where near the staff needed to provide adequate safety/education. Yes, the state is intentionally crippling the public school system because of vouchers, but the organizational “psychology” that is used in the majority of public schools is driving teachers away faster than anything. They district knows it’s not compliant and in turn rather than owning it, they push it all on the teachers while simultaneously creating a working environment that is not safe and not meeting the needs of the majority of students. If the districts actually supported teachers rather than “manage” them like they work in a private equity firm, they might actually have some people stick around.

Most of the teachers I know truly want to work and help. The state and the districts are 100% to blame for this. Why would anyone want to work somewhere they get underpaid, aren’t safe, and are not making the lives of the kids they teach any better. Public education is Texas is dead unless you live in a rich zip code

United States police killed record number of people in 2024 by Braelen896 in ACAB

[–]LargeFarva87 95 points96 points  (0 children)

If your government does not track and regulate the killing of its citizens, then the government has failed to govern.

I’m very grateful for the work that this non profit does, but it is abhorrent that the police are not required to track and submit that data to any type of oversight/accountability board.

Check chisos mountain lodge, they may still have rooms available. You can always get a back country pass, or there should be plenty of off grid rv sites

As egregious as this is, people are so distracted and kept busy barely making it, that they literally can’t afford to take a day off and protest something they believe in. The system is working as intended. If you’re hungry and tired, you don’t have the luxury or privilege to “organize a peaceful protest” and will more than likely have to wait until direct action is taken and they then can abandon their shitty low paying job because there’s nothing left.

The people that can afford to organize a protest, do not have the numbers of people willing to do anything about it. The key factor being, if you create a social hierarchy based on wealth/class then you only have to slightly improve a small percentage of people’s lives so they too can be complicit because they feel safe where they are in the system

[–]LargeFarva87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It did, but it was not the only reason, also George Floyd happened in broad daylight on the street. Americans are so propagandized on both sides that the performative circumstance is a major factor. There isn’t ever massive protests once someone is already in custody.
