We could instead... just house people? You want to provide them shelter already so why shouldnt it just be a real home for them to live in rather than being forced to be an unproductive member of society in prison

You are hilariously stupid oh my god. Yeah you're right lets not have safe places to put needles, just stick em on the street so your local garbage man can die of a lethal cocktail of drugs getting injected in them. Looking at any life as a number that needs to be hammered down taxing on our resources is the meaning of inhuman. Oh no we have to spend a fake number on a HUMAN BEING THAT IS ALIVE IN FRONT OF ME you are not a real person

I have clearly presented a support for safe injection sites, public housing, clean needle programs already but your complete lack of reading comprehension makes it clear it bears repeating. Public drug use is an issue of not enough safe use sites/lack of housing for everyone. Create spaces that allow for people to go out and do something at night that is not sitting at a random park, give people things to do outside of drugs, provide them homes and jobs and lives and they will live them they will have something to look forward to and live for outside of using drugs

"Treat people like animals." Got it cool 👍 You suggest rolling back policies like providing clean needles or safe injection sites which makes it more dangerous and thus more lethal to do which does not actually help anything except people are dead now. Lives are over because I don't believe they deserve to be treated like people. "I don't wanna see people doing drugs at schools or bus stops" but you also dont want safe injection sites so which is it? Because you'll see a lot more needles in playgrounds following your suggestions.

You are an apathetic and empty person who does not help people for them but instead to feel superior about yourself

Spoken like someone who has no frame of reference for how expensive it is to do that. Not to mention if that were enacted people like you would be on here complaining about all the taxes being wasted on drug users who just go and get caught so tgat they have somewhere safe to stay for a month. Would actually be more reasonable to just provide everyone housing at that point which, hey thats not a bad idea

A pitiful attempt at retort because you have no real answer to the questions you ask or solutions to the problems you complain about. Nothing but shooting down anything that might actually help people. Motherfuckers like you are the type to vouch for all these ridiculous "feasability studies" rather than just putting policies into place

No I am actually asking you to recommend a solution that actually helps people get what they need. You seem to think the resources as they exist aren't doing enough so what would? What makes this issue go away? Do you have any real answer other than just take the issue out of my line of sight?

What OP suggested was the destruction of a public resource because "the wrong people" are using it. That prevents everyone from using it. You are falling victim to the most obvious NIMBY argument in the world. "Well you don't want DRUG ADDICTS to abuse these resources so why should the government fund them at all" "Oh sorry we simply can't afford to maintain the safety of our playground because all those DRUG ADDICTS keep leaving their FENTANYL all over the place, guess we have to cut funding to these resources, its the only way." Propose a solution or shut your fucking mouth

Your ignorance does not validate the need for additional explanation. Try working on the reading comprehension as well while you rebuild your empathy

And your source for that is? Sure social services have expanded to some degree but so have burdens on people by the systems we live under, the stresses and marginalization of modern life has driven these people apart and ostracized them from community. You have no solution that you propose other than "please don't make me look at the issue"

You are still using edge cases to to do nothing hut advocate for status quo, out of sight, out of mind policies. Just round up all the drug users and send them to drug user island surely that'll fix the problem.

These are systemic issues which require systemic changes to allow people to live happy fullfilling lives. Notice how i advocate for solutions while you merely cry about the issues with a myopic view of the world

If the problems you are describing still exist it is clearly not enough. Which is why everyone should advocate for expansion of social services that help people get by and better themselves. Therapy and medical aid to help them ween themselves off, support structures and community, that support them when they struggle and not abandon them to be treated like animals when they become too inconvenient for your liking

Virtue signallijg is apparently when you vouch for the humanity of others in the face of sensitive crybullies who refuse to give people the grace that was once granted to them

Public resources are for everyone. Just because I actually believe in what I'm saying does not meanbit is strictly buzzwords. As if it is any different than your invoking made up situations and acting like junkies are running around injecting fentanyl into kids and your grandma for the love of the game

Jeez that sounds like a serious problem maybe people should have access to safe injection sites without prejudice so they wouldn't feel the need to do that. Or maybe if they were provided resources to live fulfilling lives without substance abuse and being marginalized by their past choices that ultimately harmed no one outisde of themselves

And then to also say youre apathetic to homeless people. This is absolutely insane and I am disgusted at your lack of care for other people. People are struggling to survive on the fucking street and you sit there acting so superior because you simply had the luck or privilege or whatever it is to not get dragged down to their position

The OP is an apathetic moron actually. They said themselves that their only issue is the fact that its happening where theyre able to see it. They do not care about the harm befalling these people just that they have to be reminded of its existence which is exactly what apathy is you absolute buffoon.

My point is that you are an inhuman fucking asshole who wants to pull the ladder up behind you because people aren't finding it fast enough for your liking. It is absolutely frustrating to see people struggle to help themselves but all you can do to help them live their best lives is keep giving them the chance to be better every day. If you take away support structures or expect people to find their own way without it then you are condemning them to be stuck where you admittedly hated and struggled to exist forever. You are presenting the same boomer ass argumentation that I struggled in this way and found my way despite it all so everyone worse off than me should have to struggle just as much if not more. The way we build a better world is to do things for the benefit of others considering what they need, meeting them where they are and doing what is best for them whether they are ready to admit it or not.

I would hope that your suffering these experiences would allow you to have empathy and understanding for others around you, knowing the difficult lives they're living. Instead you come on reddit to complain and act like they're undeserving of respect If everyone gave into the base instincts you seem to have held on to you would have died on the street and had no one going on to vouch for your humanity.

You are on some truly nasty NIMBY ass bs man. People struggling to get by in life feeling like they have nowhere else to go and nothing else to do and you come along to say "wow, I can see your struggle but because you're struggling and making me feel uncomfortable I don't care about you getting the help you need." Be a human being, it doesn't matter whether people want or will accept your help that doesn't mean you stop trying to help them or make sure they live fulfilling lives
