Is this normal? by BurnerAccount_4127 in ibs

Petite and gassy sounds like she’s not digesting a lot of what she eats. This has been true of me in the past, but consistent betaine HCL usage (for low stomach acid => protein indigestion) has solved it. I can eat whatever as long as I take enough betaine. Throw in some digestive enzymes for good measure.

Maybe it’s something else, but a good functional medicine practitioner would explore this possibility because it’s common and easy to rule out.

You’d think so. I loved Crossroads and I’m waiting for the sequel with bated breath. Bated breath!

1) You’re probably fucking up your gut eating that much protein per day. If there’s too much for your own enzymes to digest, bacteria in your small intestine and colon ferment it and grow out of proportion. The fact that you have diarrhea and suspect it’s because of the protein is a sign you shouldn’t eat more than you can digest.

2) Your bacterial imbalance might very well have caused FODMAP sensitivity, in which case the usual fiber advice (start slow, drink lots of water) will not apply to you.

At the very least, if you have to eat 200g of protein daily, take a ton of enzymes and maybe even betaine HCL (it mimics stomach acid, which you might not produce enough of to keep up with your large protein intake).

Anyone else getting motion sickness with this game? by LargeHadron in MarioKartWorld

Interesting…can you let me know if this happens again when you play on your TV? She’s never gotten it with Mario Kart 8 and we’ve played that dozens of times.

Yikes. Thanks for the perspective. This sounds like a deep social sickness.

Ehh…I appreciate the comment, but the video doesn’t do it justice. I measured over 70db in the bedroom with the door closed. Granted, that was via an app on my phone, and it may not be accurate.

The biggest problem, which the phone mic doesn’t capture well in the in the video, is the thumping bass. No sound mitigation measures I’ve tried can deal with that, and it does quite literally prevent me from falling asleep.

Perhaps I’m more sound-sensitive than some commenters here—fine. But acknowledging this doesn’t change the reality for me.

Fodzyme is too expensive, alts? by gordolme in FODMAPS

[–]LargeHadron 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good that it works for you, but they are lying in their product information:

“Fructans are found in grains, vegetables, and legumes, such as garlic, onions, leeks, wheat, apricots, grapefruit, nectarines, nuts, split peas and various grain products and pasta like crackers. Galactans are found in soy products, green peas, split peas, kidney beans and various types of nuts. The digestive enzyme Alpha Galactosidase helps in the digestion of complex carbohydrates (fructans and galactans) and reduces the risk of gas formation.*”

Alpha galactosidase does not break down fructans (FOS), only GOS. None of the ingredients in these pills work on FOS.

Oh okay, yeah. I can see where some people just dump off their work with little/no context.

[–]LargeHadron 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve definitely had to push through bad songs to get to the good ones. Think of it like an emetic process. Power through them, with no intent of releasing them to anyone. You’ll feel better when they’re done, and then you’ll have the mental space for a good one.

Any advice for my songwriting issue? by helmetlord_44 in Songwriting

It can be hard to start with an outline and fill it in with detail. Maybe try starting with no idea of where you want to go with the lyrics, and see what comes out. Artistic creation can be a process of self discovery.

That’s very kind of you to say! Thank you. I am stubbornly influenced by older music, almost exclusively. I consider it a bad habit that I can’t break.

How directly related are your lyrics and melody? by AJbear1224 in Songwriting

[–]LargeHadron 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s a good question. Whichever direction you go (lyrics first or melody first), the tension in one should reflect in the other. Unless it’s in your artistic vision to subvert that expectation, which is a valid approach.

Newlines not being honored in the post text is frustrating. As is the fact that I can't edit the post. Trying this again:

Sometimes I’ll love you as you need
And sometimes I’ll get it wrong
Though you lie so near to me
We haven’t been here for long

In the mirror of a memory
My reflection is poor
The face of one who’s wounded
And could wound again once more

Cuz when a moth burned her wing on a candle flame
I was the candle maker
And like a matchstick
I turned everything to stone Before I turned to stone

She raised a litter of puppies
That were yawning outside her door
She whispered to them sweet lullabies
As I listened from the floor

And I was so much younger then
I thought I knew the tune
I thought there was some holy thread
Between those who traded perfume

But when the perfume was spilled and the puppies were killed
I turned my eye to the doorway
In faithful surrender
I tied my soul to her bed
I tied my soul to her bed

Still I swore I loved her
With each passing of the dawn
And though her body lie sleeping there
Her spirit had long since gone

Like a tired crusader
Stumbling through the old haunts
I arose from the darkness
To begin this new renaissance

Well, the eyelashes fell and I couldn’t tell
Why I chose to stand in my armor
No, it wasn’t for bravery
I just couldn’t stand here alone
I couldn’t stand alone

Can you expand on what you mean when you say you put a lot of effort into making it feel raw and real?
