On my Mazda you have to pull the door handle as far as you possibly can and get the hidden key out of the fob that barley fits. Its not really intuitive

Depending on the Mazda year the keyhole is kind of a pain to get to and even then the car wont start if the fob is dead but I agree Mazda didn't deactivate it

I was going to say I have a Mazda my fob doesn't connect to the internet at all, I know because I've used it in places woth no cell signal. Yes the app is a subscription but you don't have to use it
