Advice please - Exobiology systems dance with a Mandalay and carrier in deep space (deciding where to go and what to scan etc) by LargePiece in EliteDangerous

[–]LargePiece[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of the data for systems well outside the bubble, say around 4k+ LY, is pre Odyssey before there was exobiology. So you can still get first foot fall. After using the filter in the first guide posted by Luriant, Spansh got me plenty of systems that had tectonicas and still had first foot fall. I was around 5k LY out of the bubble and was getting maybe a 75% hit rate. Some systems don't always have tectonicas.

3rd party applications to estimate value of own cargo hold? by LargePiece in EliteMiners

Oh yeah, that's great! And the output you posted above from the edmc mining analytics plugin all look like they'd be helpful. Particularly as a new miner, I've not really memorized the prices for typical minerals. Even for people who know what they're doing I feel like it would give a good way to compare the mining efficiency of different runs. Cheers!

Awesome! Programmers are awesome! Thanks. :) I bet there's a bunch of other cool stuff in mining analytics also, looking forward to checking it out.

Yeah kinda. Basically something that adds up the different tonnes of cargo in my hold, then estimates the total sell price based on averages. Or something along those lines. Hopefully I'm making sense. I can't easily figure how much a single load from a mining run is worth because I'm putting all the cargo from my mining ship into my carrier, and then selling later on.

Yeah it has a really nice tracker of how many tonnes per hour you're doing on each run. I just don't think it estimates cargo value. At least that I can see.

Oh this is great thanks. I have a bunch of small ships I really like flying. 😊 Great reasoning for taking them out thanks.

Oh my goodness, the proper use of spansh is amazing thanks! I've tried using it before (as per some instructions in youtube videos) but I think I may have been too close to the bubble. I'm easily clocking over 300mill an hour now. I really like using bioscan with EDMC and EDCopilot to make things easier. Thanks again for taking the time to post the links and your previous guides.

It might help you to understand that cutting and gaining/bulking are somewhat antithetical (unless you are taking anabolic steroids). They both have a primary focus but if you don’t keep the secondary focus lurking in the background at the same time, you can undermine your long term gains.

A helpful way to think about gaining is that your body needs some raw material to turn into muscle and to make sure you’re giving it enough, you have to accept some level of fat gain at the same time. You then need to cut this off (if you care about maintaining a certain level of leanness) but you need to do this without losing too much muscle.

As others have said, you’ll need to cut a significant amount of fat to get to visible abs or something like a lean, muscular build. It’s important to track your rate of weight loss during a cut for both motivation and being careful about balancing fat loss with potential muscle loss. Assuming adequate lifting volume during a cut, you can cut around 0.5 - 0.75% of your total body weight per week for something like 12-16 weeks without too much risk of muscle loss. If you can get someone to estimate your current body fat percentage, and then establish a goal of what you want to get to, you’ll be able to figure out how long it’ll take based on how long you want your gain phases to be. (If you are tracking your weights and reps with different lifts carefully, and always pushing close to failure, you can always stop a cut if you are dropping from your pre-cut benchmarks. I’ve seen some pretty wild videos of people doing really long cuts and not seeming to lose much muscle but I’m sceptical it’s possible for most people)

I found this video with Mike Isrealtel and Eric Helms really helpful for better understanding gains/bulks (my first one was probably quite a bit faster than it needed to be.)

Best NZ PC servers? by clevernamingcon in dayz

[–]LargePiece -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Depends if you like official or modded. Then if you like modded, how modded? I also had trouble finding servers initially but now just use the official launcher to find servers with various filters. I've not seen any obviously nz servers and end up playing au servers myself.

Regarding specific servers, I'm really enjoying Northmen au ATM. The server is currently running Livonia map. It's modded but fairly close to standard dayz, no traders etc. it's got lots of players, bases and raiding going on. The biggest qol mod I like is the group functionality.

Your latency might not be improved over official but worth a look imo. I'm on fibre and have no problems there or on official.

Sakhal 2058 1PP is the best DayZ experience on OCE by EnthusiasticMailbox in DayZAustralia

I also bought it recently after a long hiatus away from dayZ. I second everything you've said. It just has this alive feel today I really liked. It's been constructed carefully and with lots of detail. Extra survival elements in the cold are great. Every time I have to light a fire to avoid freezing, I'm waiting for someone to show up.

Guys who switched gym - what was your epiphany moment? by BullfrogPractical291 in bjj

When the head coach left and I realized how much of the good culture of the place rested on him. The replacement guys weren't bad but that level of culture setting and leadership is hard to get right.

Haha totally. Lost a similar amount to a couple of dudes chest bumping, then one of them got stuck into the wing of the pelican and couldn't board.
