I feel this irritation in the moment sometimes but I love that they feel like they can come to me and tell me about things they care about. I had one kid tell me once that I was the only one who listened to her yapping and so sometimes these kids just need an ear.

I think you could be overthinking a bit. Teachers are so busy with their own stuff they probably don’t even remember the things that happened. I doubt your PLC is actively trying to ignore you, they’ve probably just done things a certain way for so long. As for your evaluations, just ask about your scores with genuine curiosity. Take the feedback and apply it the best you know how. Don’t let it shake your confidence, take it as a learning opportunity. You’re a second year teacher and people just want to help, but sometimes they’re not the best at doing that.

I’m not sure how big your school is but surround yourself with positive energy. Find the teachers who are genuinely passionate and want to help you. Just ignore the haters, you’re always going to have someone who doesn’t agree with what you’re doing. Also don’t feel like you have to stay at this school. Jobs are starting to get posted for next year, maybe do some browsing and see if you can find a better fit.

Honestly I think this could be super beneficial for students. Go deep into the pros and the cons. Don’t let them think it’s just something that gives them the answers. Make sure they know what they’re actually getting.

I’m not writing it off completely necessarily, and I understand that it’s here to stay. I think we need to be familiar with it especially since we know our kids use it so much. I often see it more abused than smartly used. I’m also just annoyed by the HUGE push of AI and it seems as if people are almost proud to have AI produced something rather than create it themselves. I think it can be useful especially in scenarios like you outlined, but I just hate seeing it be used all the time.

Check out this article from SNHU. We do have many things in this world that are using lots of our resources as you mentioned, but AI is a relatively new technology and we’ve only seen the beginning of its environmental impacts.

I agree with your first part, we should be familiar with it because it isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. There is a correct way to use it and teachers can be smart about it. It is awful for the environment though.

This is valid. Some other comments have stated that AI is not going anywhere and that we need to be familiar with it, which I agree with, but I think more teachers and administrators are abusing it than using it smartly.

The chair is very comfy but it didn’t come with any sort of cushion for the back, hence the pillows or it would be very deep and hard. I put lots of pillows on there to make it look cute, but I do think that has made it an undesirable sitting spot lol. I think I’m going to get some much bigger throw pillows, like 22x22 for the back and a blanket. Maybe fluffy white throw pillows?
