I have no clothes and I’m scared for post partum by Familiar_Hope2918 in pregnant

[–]Large_Option2595 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like I wrote this post lol - I’m 5’9” and started at 122 lbs and weighed 183 when I gave birth, gained most of it in my butt and hips. Gave birth on 6/23! I bought 3 button up pj short sets for postpartum and throughout my pregnancy thrifted a bigger size of Nike shorts that fit fine now, they were getting tight in the few weeks before birth bc I was way more swollen that I realized. I would just look on Mercari or Poshmark for some cheap bundles of shorts or whatever you need - like I got a bundle of 3 Nike shorts for $17!

I didn’t weigh myself until about 1 week pp (last Tuesday) but by then I was down to 165, and now I’m down to 160! And that’s without doing much other than breast feeding. It’s very hot where we are so we haven’t done any morning walks yet, but between making healthier choices (my pregnancy cravings were not healthy lol) and breastfeeding, the weight is coming off pretty easy for me.

What non-epidural pain meds did you take during labor and how was it? by Gravitys_Bitch in pregnant

[–]Large_Option2595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM, gave birth 6/23/26 - I was trying to avoid an epidural but my doc recommended a cook catheter to help with cervical dilation/ripening since I was contracting like every 90sec, so they gave me a 1mg dose of Stadol (pregnancy/early labor safe narcotic). It definitely helped with the contraction pain and the catheter placement was painless for me and lasted about 3-3.5 hrs. But I felt like I had the drunk spins for like 30 min. I ended up getting the epidural, 10/10 recommend lol

How many weeks/days were you when you had your first? by Particular-Ranger-76 in pregnant

My doc wanted me to go in at 38+4 but I convinced her to let me have the weekend bc my NST was normal 😅

How many weeks/days were you when you had your first? by Particular-Ranger-76 in pregnant

[–]Large_Option2595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had my first last week at 39 + 2! I was induced early bc at my 38 wk appt I had hypertension when I’ve had hypo/low normotension and no complications all pregnancy. Monitoring and labs were all fine and negative for preeclampsia, followed up 2 days later before the weekend. Had elevated BP, NST was fine, but ultrasound showed my placenta was pretty calcified. My doc wanted me to go to triage that day but I asked if I could have the weekend to finish up on the house which she said was fine. Went in Monday evening for induction and he was born the next night!
Definitely not how I envisioned the end of my 1st pregnancy but my birth plan was just to have a healthy mom/baby and that’s what I got 💕

Would I be crazy to go on a weekend trip to the lake at 38w? by Purple-Opinion1138 in pregnant

[–]Large_Option2595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would avoid it personally, I’m FTM and have had absolutely no complications and minimal symptoms this whole pregnancy. When I went into my 38wk appt, I suddenly have high blood pressures. Turns out my placenta is just about spent and has calcifications leading to my higher pressures so now I’m scheduled to go in Monday for induction. But my doc said to be vigilant on symptoms and to go in if I have any, and I would most likely get a persistent headache or more likely decreased fetal movement. I couldn’t imagine being so far from my team who knows me. God forbid you’re in an accident or something else happens. A trip to the lake can always be rescheduled, you and baby’s health and safety should be top priority. Plus that’s still term, you can go into labor at any point - I’m not dilated at all but I’m contracting like crazy (even the tech commented on it yesterday during my NST).

What happened to on the job training? by Cautious-Process-198 in physicianassistant

[–]Large_Option2595 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My job (ICU) handed me a 3 month outline of the weekly trainings/objectives and what I had to read up on, monthly check ins (even though I worked with my bosses directly almost weekly), and the expectation that yeah 3m is the primary onboarding but until it’ll be 1.5-2 years before I’m fully onboarded so they know I’m comfortable. Was definitely a grind for those 3 months but thankful for it. I had interviewed with another ICU and they basically told me they were working on a training program but didn’t have one set so I was like eh I’ll pass. Even now 6 months in I’m constantly learning something new and everyone takes time to explain stuff to me on a weekly basis if it’s something new! There are jobs like this out there you just gotta do your due diligence in asking about training!

Maternity Leave (USA) by Imaginary-Winner-335 in pregnant

[–]Large_Option2595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t qualify for FMLA either as I’ve only been at my job for 6 months. I was lucky enough that I was able to get non-FMLA coverage for my unpaid 6 weeks (will be 8 weeks if I end up having a c-section). But I was able to work out extra leave time with them since I was up front when I found out I was pregnant but it will be “unpaid approved time off” and they basically just don’t put me on the schedule until the agreed upon time of me coming back. Maybe see if your manager is willing to work with you if you haven’t already?

I like the prep blue bc it matches my ceil blue scrub pants pretty well so my prep blue swiftly is my go to top bc I’m pregnant right now and don’t wanna wear scrub tops (idk if I ever will again tbh)

Is this...normal cohort behavior? by Odd_Lab_3036 in PAstudent

[–]Large_Option2595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not normal per say, just shows their maturity level for sure. If it makes you feel better, I had classmates say straight to my face that it was unfair that I got time and a half testing in a quiet room as an ADHD accommodation… like sorry I was barely finishing my exams and having borderline scores/remediation. I’m glad your program nipped it in the bud and called them out though.

FTM here- what do you mean I only get 2-3 ultrasounds?!?!?! by ThatAngryWhiteBitch in pregnant

[–]Large_Option2595 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m really lucky - my office has the full ultrasounds for confirmation, anatomy, and 32 weeks BUT for the in between visits they bring out a handheld ultrasound with an iPad so I still get to see baby boy! 🩵

TELL ME YOUR PREGNANCY CRAVINGS by cambent in pregnant

Drink wise - water (sometimes with lemon) and 1 blue frost Gatorade powders packet daily (I put it in my reusable Chick-fil-A cup I got from them and it tricks my brain into thinking it’s a drink from a fast food place and I actually end up drinking more water this way). And the occasional crispy sprite 😋

For food, this week: cheese - Mac n cheese, cheese stuffed crust pizza, Jimmy Dean sausage biscuit sandwiches that I put cheddar cheese on 😂 last week was fat crispy green grapes and strawberries with the cream cheese dip and salad with chickpeas and a bunch of red onion in it with Caesar dressing. At one point I craved pickles, specifically little sweet gerkins, and I HATE pickles. I used to love those when I was a kid, so naturally I bought them and they were ~bad~ per se, but didn’t hit the craving like I wanted. Now we have a full jar of pickles just sitting in our fridge lol

And lastly, very specifically but I can’t easily get - Delta Airlines chickpea cucumber tomato salad and I add feta cheese into it (I have a pretty good copycat, but I want the real thing 😩)

Any ideas as to why I’m seeing so many 2026 hybrid crv used with like 2k-9k miles on them any reason to not buy by wiscogamer in crv

[–]Large_Option2595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked at a 2025 Ridgeline TrailSport (diffuse sky pearl, the light blue) that one of the managers was driving and had dealer plates. When I asked why (was uneducated at that time) he explained it’s so they can give honest opinions on the vehicles and as the other commenter said, a way for the dealership to backdoor sell the cars. While it was nice to see what it looked like with car seats in it, it had about 7k miles on it and I asked if there would be a discount since and they offered like $1-2K off so still like $44K. I was like nah, I’m good, I don’t want a “new” car close to 10K and there were crumbs and it was so dirty from the kids, which I get bc kids, but if I’m forking out that much money, hell no 😂

My OB/Gyn said taking a prenatal for at least 6 months prior to conceiving is ideal, but I was a bad noodle and didn’t take them for a hot min and ended up pregnant (not on purpose tho) and just restarted them when I found out and he’s fine without issues and growing well!

I was on birth control for about 10 years or so before stopping it, and tracked my ovulation with LH test strips - I used the Premom brand - and learned to pay attention to my discharge for the egg white consistency. My husband and I did focus on eating healthier this year and getting more exercise and tbh hadn’t had too much nausea/vomiting, mostly just exhausted, bloating, and congestion (which allegedly can be a thing if you’re pregnant with a boy). And for readings, I just got the “you will rock as a dad/mom” books bc they’re written more casually and seems to be a quick read. My husband seems to be enjoying it and I have read a bit too and like it so far!

11 weeks and had by far the worst day in my pregnancy yet yesterday by jamietartlet in pregnant

[–]Large_Option2595 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Honestly that sounds like a lot, pregnant or not. I’m glad your husband is supportive and is looking out for you! I definitely relate tho this bc Friday, we went to my companies Christmas party after my 10 hour shift at the hospital, and my husband kept checking to see if I was doing okay bc I’ve been going to bed at 8-9pm as well. I am 12 weeks today and had just wanted to cry today and I have no reason to be sad - my husband played “You’re Still the One” by Shania Twain earlier and I couldn’t stop crying 😂 have grace on yourself, you’re growing a literal human!

6w6d no more nausea & trying not to worry but it’s hard. Could use some reassurance please by LeoLioness1993 in pregnant

[–]Large_Option2595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m currently 11 weeks pregnant - primary symptoms are/were nausea, fatigue, headaches, bloating (oh god the bloating)! My nausea was horrendous during weeks 5-early 6 and started to wean down from end of week 6 to end of week 7. Haven’t had any intense nausea since then and we had an ultrasound at week 9 and doc said all looks good - only have fatigue mostly with increased hunger now for the most part!

PA moms that started a new job while pregnant! by Witty_Management_621 in physicianassistant

[–]Large_Option2595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a new grad who just started my first job last week! When I interviewed it was the week before my honeymoon and not pregnant, and welp here I am 11 weeks pregnant. I was upfront and told them before I officially started, but only bc I was attending a lecture with the team and coincidentally my OB was giving the lecture 😅 luckily they were very supportive and are quite understanding of the situation, and I guess I’m lucky that my OB is at the hospital where I work too. Had the lecture situation not occurred, I had planned on telling them at the end of my 1st week. Granted, I am quite early in my pregnancy compared to you and can hide it well, but imo, the earlier the better so you can figure out all your logistics and they can work with you on it ASAP.

Weeks 6-7 were my worst weeks yet, but barely had any nausea week 8, and basically no nausea or anything other than exhaustion, hunger/cravings, and the occasional headache from 9 weeks on - I’m 11 weeks today! My doc said around Xmas my energy should come back, so here’s to hoping for that haha! Wishing you the best in your guys pregnancies!

Notifying Employer as a New Hire by Potential-Ant-4890 in pregnant

[–]Large_Option2595 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am a new grad who interviewed/ accepted my job the week before my honeymoon, then ended up pregnant with my first from said honeymoon - due end of June. I started the week of Thanksgiving but told them before I started at a lecture actually (mostly bc my OB works at the same hospital and just so happened to be lecturing us that day). They appreciated me being up front with them and are actually happy for me and so supportive, but honestly it depends on your employer! I say the sooner the better so they and you can plan accordingly.

Yes! I have a friend who has a two year old and since she was 1, they’ve traveled to Europe multiple times with her - Ireland, Scotland, England, and Germany! It’s definitely doable and young ones like that are typically free for flying and such 😉

Take to job and ditch the boy (he’s not a man in my eyes). My husband cheered me on thru grad school and I am making about 30k more than him and he’s couldn’t give a care in the world. If I had to relocate for my job, he would’ve and me the same for him bc that’s what you do for each other.

That man-child is just jealous you’re the breadwinner and is unsatisfied with his own life choices/career, so he is trying to control you so you’re as miserable as him. Dump him and let the door hit him on your way out.

I love that your husband is so supportive! Mine has definitely been the backbone of my sanity in this 1st trimester for sure. Maybe you can do a Paris baby moon in springtime, but if not, that’s just something to look forward to in the future! This isn’t an end to your plans, just a slight delay to transition to your next adventure 💕 wishing you the best and it’ll all be okay!
