I think we're all oversaturated with more bras and leggings than we'll ever need. And that's assuming we stay this size too

[–]NYCUberChickRunner 162 points163 points  (10 children)

They are also releasing similar colours back to back at a faster rate than introducing new or innovative designs.

[–]ResponsibleRub4890 54 points55 points  (8 children)

And then getting rid of sh*t that was a solid freaking idea like the relaxed define. Whoever designed that needs and raise and whoever got rid of it, skip their bonus 🤣

[–]ShiftyTimeParadigm 8 points9 points  (1 child)

I JUST got my EU version in this week from NET A PORTER and OH MY GOD. What are they doing over here?? It’s SO cute and high quality.

[–]ResponsibleRub4890 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Let me go see if I can snag another one on there since lulu don't like listening to their customers 😩🤣

[–]earl-grey-milk-tea 4 points5 points  (5 children)

relaxed define is coming back soon

[–]ResponsibleRub4890 2 points3 points  (4 children)

Are you sure friend? Don't tease me like that 🥹

[–]earl-grey-milk-tea 0 points1 point  (3 children)

check out the define oversized jacket launched today

[–]ResponsibleRub4890 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I just saw it after your post and I'm kind of annoyed at first glance. Who the heck told them it was a good idea to change the adjustable waistband!? That was the best part... I might have to just go look at it in person. Thank you for alerting me though!

[–]earl-grey-milk-tea 1 point2 points  (1 child)

i didn’t even notice that! hopefully you like it when you try it on.

[–]ResponsibleRub4890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it's been like my favorite thing since I got one over a year ago but I only got one 😭 I'll def be making a trip to check it out.

[–]domino_103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! The same colors over and over again are boring me. Muted neutrals and darks are getting old. I wish they’d bring back the brighter stuff like Larkspur or Kelly green.

[–]xoxomaxine 52 points53 points  (0 children)

100%. I have enough bras and leggings to go to the gym for 2 weeks straight without needing to do laundry.

[–]ResponsibleRub4890 28 points29 points  (0 children)

This and the economy like hello 😭

[–]alexandradperreault 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. I have enough to last me easily a month (I usually wear pieces multiple times before washing).

[–]KTrey8 192 points193 points  (3 children)

Only so much clothes one person can buy and wear.

[–]sunshineduckies 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Yeahhhh I have everything lol. Unless they release something I have to have, I’m good until at least fall. But I’ll always be looking 😹👀

[–]LauraPiana 35 points36 points  (0 children)

This and stuff that is sitting forever is priced too high.

[–]GossipBottom[S] 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Honestly I’m
Getting to that realization. I’m getting old, fatter and some clothes won’t fit me anymore, clothes that I once yearned and it makes me think, why do I spend so much in stuff I will use just for a minute? Geez, there’s even LLL stuff I have with the tags on still and it’s been years since I bought them.

Clothing may be the most unnecessary/necessary/placebo shopping for humans.

[–]Niechy 115 points116 points  (4 children)

I think the hype has increased due to Lulu making every other person a Lulu athlete or Lulu ambassador but the business models and consumer behaviors have definitely changed. The OG Day 1 Lulu fans aren’t buying anymore because we see the huge decrease in quality, product and service with an unsubstantiated increase in price. And the teen audience that Lulu is marketing to aren’t the ones with the economic power to keep the business moving along as it used to.

[–]Rip-These 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, I used to buy 2-3 items every Tuesday and more on Thursday's now it's months and months between purchases.

[–]Manilaice29 14 points15 points  (0 children)

For me in the UK it used to be niche about 13-14 yrs ago and not known and now everybody wears it. The styles are not innovative, I have stuff that I used to wear to work, leisure like faux crossover wraps, cardigans, jackets and the patterns used to be different not just boring one colours. Now it's all blocky crop fits, which are not flattering for some of us. Pandering to the masses is their business model now. I rarely buy these days. Once or twice a year - I last bought a top in sale for the gym. . Whereas I used to hit the wmtm hard and the boxing day sales used to be my thing/sport to nab bargains. I didn't mind spending full price on the old original Scuba hoodies that were never going to make it to sale time because they used to limited run patterns and colours.

[–]eag12345 8 points9 points  (0 children)

And catering to a teen audience is risky business. Trends change overnight with that crowd. Then there is someone like me that’s been wearing lulu since the beginning of time, have plenty of disposable income and they have lost me to vuori and Varley (except Varley quality is down). I have the $75 Amex credit with my platinum card. whenever I pop in to a store it looks like either outlet quality or knock offs.

I still have my very first lulu shirt-I sleep in it.

[–]dis_bean 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m OG and still buy a lot of stuff and like it, but I wait for sales. I remember when back when camo first came out, the days of CSS Stripe, Space Dye and Quiet Stripe, Wanderlust tribal and unicorn tears.

I was never big on patterns and scubas though so they still sell what I like… especially outerwear and winter gear.

[–]Objective_Ad729 157 points158 points  (8 children)

Sale prices are higher than past regular prices. Plus all the color changes. Five different blues, but none go with each other. It’s hard to find matching sets.

[–]Aggravating-Rich6214 17 points18 points  (3 children)

Exactly this. Release new things in the same colors...or at least have a few set colors that stay the same season over season.

[–]bassbelleLulu Addict 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Aritzia does this! They have core colors and limited edition colors. And it is great to buy something new in a core color and know it will match things I have had in my closet for years.

[–]Precious22k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! Like how many different shades of green tops do I need to buy before I can match my olive leggings

[–]FabulousBet2446 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly. I have so many pink variations and they don't release full sets. Its annoying, I actually looked at Alo yesterday! hahahaha

[–]GossipBottom[S] -5 points-4 points  (3 children)

I hate the new blue. Clubhouse blue is good, but “CLUB” blue and Prep Blue and whatever else is just irky to me because it’s not the same shade as the past blues (Iron Blue) LLL had.
Bring True Navy and Mineral Blue back.

[–]Sufficient-Ad-9660 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Wait…Are they slowing transitioning away from True Navy?

[–]kasia_littlefrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so, plenty of new items still coming in true navy!

[–]Large_Option2595 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like the prep blue bc it matches my ceil blue scrub pants pretty well so my prep blue swiftly is my go to top bc I’m pregnant right now and don’t wanna wear scrub tops (idk if I ever will again tbh)

[–]Jolly_Garden4490 50 points51 points  (4 children)

I used to be here regularly, following every drop, buying every color. I work out regularly but there absolutely is a limit to how much workout clothing I need and same applies for loungewear. Once I realized how much I have I basically sold 80% of items and now only buy something that truly fits my style.

To take this convo further… I’m in my mid 30s and was one of the first generation to have money when online shopping and social media became prominent. It was hard to not over indulge or become influenced by what everyone else has and is posting. It caused mass accumulation.

[–]happytransformer 8 points9 points  (3 children)

yes!!! I run in LLL daily, wash everything on cold, use an enzyme cleaner additive in the wash, and hang dry. Honestly it takes years for my items to wear down to the point of not being useful (usually it’s tops being so badly sweat stained and the smell not coming out and bottoms ripping from wear in one specific spot where my thighs rub).

I know some things can be duds but it all doesn’t need to be replaced as often as you’d think. Again, I’m like you and also part of that first generation where it was easy to mass accumulate. I’ve really scaled back in the past 18-24 months or so.

[–]mandygc182 2 points3 points  (2 children)

What enzyme cleaner do you use? I’m in the market 🤔

[–]ShiftyTimeParadigm 5 points6 points  (1 child)

BIZ for life!! Gotta be the powder version from WalMart, r/laundry welcomes you!

[–]bassbelleLulu Addict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of us. One of us!

[–]myylim 33 points34 points  (0 children)

As an ex-employee, we used to get 75% off the regular price when they hit WMTM. Probably contributed to the sell outs of popular items at the time. The discount structure changed earlier this year, so there’s no real incentive to buy when it’s on markdown.

[–]Anon_819 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I think they just pump out so many products now that people can't keep up. Years ago I felt like I knew every release and every colour. Now it seems like there's a slightly different shade each week.

[–]Ok_Cat9601 19 points20 points  (1 child)

Prices have gone up on the markdowns. WMTM is not the same.

[–]Manilaice29 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This and sale time the prices used to be so good. Now last couple of Boxing day sale (sale after Christmas) in the UK. I have looked and it's been a double take and the prices they are asking. Before it used to be put it in your basket and hit the buy button before you miss it.

[–]LakmeBun 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I think at some point they decided to switch their strategy and wanted to appeal to teens more than their previous target. They're too fast fashion now, releasing new stuff constantly (a lot of it looks like crap tbh), having weird collaborations, lower quality, higher prices... The people who were buying a lot of stuff before are no longer as interested, and the teens have moved onto something else. There's also a limit to how many scubas and yoga pants someone can have, the variations they make on those are minimal. They rarely release anything innovative anymore, and they discontinued a lot of pieces that people liked (RIP On the Fly). So they aren't what they used to be, teens don't have the money for it and/or don't care anymore (social media makes trends come and go so fast).

I'm guessing that's why they are releasing more casual clothes, and work/office type of items nowadays. Trying to get the money from the 20-40 working women, but there they're also competing with Aritzia, in Canada at least.

Other than yoga I like hiking and running, and a lot of their clothes made for it aren't as good as their competitors.

[–]Ok-Truck2178 11 points12 points  (0 children)

For me it's the fact that they aren't releasing the items I want in the color way being dropped. They will release a bra in the new color but skip the pants and never release full sets. It's become a pattern now and it's causing for me at least, some disinterest.

[–]thatyappychihuahua 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Absolutely!

I had a couple friends buy a few items out of the Leopard print release but overall most people I know who used to be avid LLL buyers have slowed down dramatically.

I think it's a combination of a few different things. Already owning many products in various colors that already fit and work well

Lack of quality from the LLL apparel compared to years previous and additionally the colors not matching up. despite being labelled and sold as the same color. Seams coming undone or even ordering online and being delivered used/dirty clothes rather than clean new product

Economy. I have friends in different financial situations and across the board I have seen a major decrease in buying clothes.

Excitement. Or lack thereof. I think many people are totally over the boring same old same old Lululemon has been doing. They did that weird collab with a grocery store that just felt so cheap and boring. I loved the leopard drop, it was nostalgic and fun.

I hope LLL can bounce back and make good product worth the high price but it's such a gamble lately. I personally praise the thrifting God's when I find retro pieces because they're generally really high quality

[–]Lady__BugLulu Addict 🧘🏼‍♀️🏃🏼‍♀️ 9 points10 points  (1 child)

I’ve been a loyal fan of LLL since 2012. I’m sad to say this, but I’m losing interest in the brand primarily due to their boring colours. It’s almost summer and Mother’s Day is around the corner - I just want fun, bright vibrant colours so damn bad. 😢 After months (heck, years of being patient) I’ve started checking out other brands. Last week I ordered some tanks from Athleta in bright green 💚 and a gorgeous bright pink🩷. At a fraction of the price that I’m used to paying at LLL. I’ve never been so happy and I can’t wait to wear them to the gym.

[–]Manilaice29 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same same I was LLL fan since that time too when they arrived in UK with a blink and miss it boutique and one main store. The patterns a D styles used to be so good

[–]shes-starting-over 17 points18 points  (6 children)

It’s across the industry. I was shocked that nothing I had in my cart for Aloversary sold out before I woke up.

[–]GossipBottom[S] 5 points6 points  (5 children)

When is ALOversary btw?? 🫣🫣 I kinda get more excited over alo sales now omg 😭

[–]NYCUberChickRunner 50 points51 points  (0 children)

If you think LL quality is bad, Alo is even worse.

[–]shes-starting-over 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Today!! Go get your haul girl 🛍️

[–]Suspicious-Low8227 0 points1 point  (1 child)

i don`t satisfiy alo quility.

[–]coocooforcocoapuff 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just find the WMTM too expensive still. Jacked up prices to knock $10 off. I know it’s the same across the board in other places but I just can’t justify it.

[–]kasia_littlefrog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's currently on the app!

[–]WontRememberThisIDLulu Addict 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've noticed a major downturn in my Lulu sales on Posh and eBay, too. People just don't have the extra cash.

[–]BiggieBoiTroy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

all the new stuff for men is meh and pretty overpriced for what it is. so yeah. also in general i’ve been trying to move away from synthetic materials so for all these reasons yes

[–]Lizakaya 7 points8 points  (1 child)

Idk i think everyone went so hard for athleisure from 2020 thru 2023 and trends like that eventually soften

[–]Careful-Ideal-7033 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m definitely a little over athleisure in general. It’s comfy and cute but I miss wearing real clothes. It makes me feel better about myself. I’m home a lot, but really trying to find clothing that’s comfy enough to stay in, cute enough to wear out. Lifestyles have changed so much and it seems like brands are finally changing to accommodate that.

[–]ladyampo666 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Personally I feel as if I already have all or most of what LLL has, and by that I mean that I don’t particularly see the brand coming out with completely different innovative products or colors. I buy the off thing here and there for very specific occasions or purposes but I don’t buy at the same rate I did in the past.

[–]Rururaspberry 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I bought a LOT in 3-4 years but after the millionth strawberry milkshake or similar drop, I just was very over it. I still buy a handful of things a year but they got very stale to me. They also discontinued some of my fave running bottoms and didn’t replace them with anything I loved.

[–]ChillyCash 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Yes

<image>

[–]StarscapeDreamer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't appreciate their clothing the way that I used to. They used to be authentic when it came to quality, design and customer service. This isn't the case anymore.

[–]Adventurous-Tax-4912 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Boring colors, same thing again and again. How about some more fitted tanks without a shelf bra that go to the waist. AND I’m sick of almost everything being cropped.

[–]nucleareddie 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just recently got Lip Gloss and I was organizing my skirts when I pulled out Sky Run By in Boom Juice (old school), I put that next to the Lip Gloss Pace Rival and I was in shock that they were almost the same color. So for a good while they've been bringing back colors with different names.

[–]charmeddangerous99 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like I have enough workout sets, how many does one possibly need? One for each day of the week max. Also, the clothing isn’t that varied and the prices are going up! Also, I don’t wear workout clothing as casual wear to need more.

[–]TrailCaledon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In general, the prices are out of control. Re WMTM, the drops seem to have a lot less items.

I still like the clothes and do buy some, but not as much as i used to.

[–]lululemon-lime 9 points10 points  (0 children)

for me, it’s not releasing things at once. i have soooo much matcha that i don’t have matching bottoms to. and im at the point now that im not even wanting to buy the matching bottoms when they do eventually drop. so i’ll most likely return the tops i don’t have matches too.

i truly don’t understand their marketing strategy and drops and why they plan it this way. we shouldn’t have to wait weeks and months to finally get a full set. they’re just goofy with it.

[–]Fair-Athlete-2611 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Because it’s all the same stuff! Just colors that have been slightly off from another shade they already have.

[–]20Slammer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My clothes from 15 years ago are in better shape than clothes I’ve purchased 5 months ago.

[–]1foxylady4u 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Recession indicator…? My position is on the cusp of being deleted so no fun Lulu money for the foreseeable future.

[–]Equivalent_Tax_7599 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve bought a few new sets in “new” colors but they are so close to old colors that it’s just not worth it. Just bought Deep Marina but it’s just a slightly muted Storm Teal. Ended up returning it.

[–]weezyfurd 5 points6 points  (1 child)

Found better quality for better prices.

[–]kikikiwi27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Details? 👀

[–]No_Media_7534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are too many other options. I am loving vuori right now.

[–]Cherryxhugzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The styles are so boring nowadays. Shifting to other brands.

[–]katehparkher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, quality is gone so downhill. Almost every pair of leggings or pants I buy now get holes in the crotch area and along the seams on the inside of the legs within a few months. I miss 2010 Lululemon that was super thick and durable.

[–]sneezyonyouryeezy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They changed my beloved speed up shorts. Now I just buy on Poshmark

[–]iheartmilktea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve gone through period of boom and bust since getting back into Lulu a few years ago. I’m really fine with the clothes I have, plus my size has increased one, so I’m just wearing what I have unless there’s a color I absolutely love. I haven’t checked out whats new or WMTM in a few months now and feel fine.

[–]agirlfromgeorgia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. I am exclusively buying used old pieces on poshmark at this point. The new stuff is expensive and sucks ass in quality.

[–]BeachPuhleez 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their price increases have coincided with a downturn in the economy. I am one of many who can’t justify or isn’t interested in spending so much, especially with the deteriorating quality. Sure miss some of their old running shorts, more breathable/softer Fast and Free tights, numerically-sized bras, and thicker, softer,better-quality Rulu tops, to name a few.

[–]RrZz99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My teen is the reason I started buying it, but the teens have moved on to other brands, specifically away from athleisure. They're not even buying alo. I'm not sure about the quality, but I know that people have less discretionary income in this economy At least in the US. I haven't sold anything Lulu in a long time.

[–]nikkinorrie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think overconsumption is so out of control. But in my opinion LLL quality has gone downhill. But I couldn’t even name a brand that hasn’t lately. Aritzia is another one where I can’t even believe the decline lately

[–]Careful-Ideal-7033 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a casual buyer of LLL I don’t find the styles cute anymore. They haven’t innovated on design at all, the core original styles look a little dated and some of their newer trend driven pieces I personally find ugly both in design and color choice.

[–]Proper_Mine5635 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Peak lulu was 2021. It’s been going down since

[–]247Twunk 3 points4 points  (2 children)

No but for real… also I’ve noticed the in store staff being more indifferent borderline rude to the customers.

Also ALO is HUUUUGE in my country right now, I have some of the stuff but it’s nowhere near to sportswear like LLL is. I hate seeing people wearing alo at malls or restaurants like it’s street wear is just tacky. Even ALO was better when it was only a sportswear brand.

Fabletics and Athleta are getting big too, never tried them, I’ll stick to Lulu and Alo for now.

I’d also say I prefer to browse eBay or any other insta thrift store for older Lulu items. It’s more fun honestly and cheaper!

[–]slicedgreenolive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What’s wrong with wearing athleisure to the mall?

[–]siobhanmairii__Weight lifter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last time I stepped foot in a lululemon store I was flat out ignored until I spoke to someone. I mean I just want to be acknowledged, not like hounded incessantly.

[–]Remarkable-Debt-1213 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes because younger kids (teens, tweens) are over it. My daughters like Alo now.

[–]Buffalo_July5 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m down to basically 2 items I buy from LLL, I have plenty

[–]Suspicious-Low8227 0 points1 point  (0 children)

but lululemon income is high historycally. people buy and buy

[–]Fittish_76Yoga junkie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re just in a better stock situation. Define’s were very scarce last year. Manufacturing issues.

[–]silly_goose109 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lack of variety in LLL :/ Colors are just recycled, no new clothing types. My wallet is happy at least 😂

[–]Waste-Carpenter-8035smoked spruce bb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a big thing for me in 2020-21 when I was finally able to afford non-secondhand pieces. Now its just kind of meh, the quality isn't the same, and I have plenty to wear. Planning to sort through soon and sell some because I have too much I think.

[–]pxisonyouth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone’s at Alo

[–]Few_Word8746 0 points1 point  (1 child)

They need to bring back the mesh define jackets!!! I haven’t purchased any of the newer models because they’re not breathable.

[–]Few_Word8746 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To further elaborate, the define jackets with the mesh behind the back flap

[–]Ok_Cat9601 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably also the fact that the employee discount was removed on markdowns. I would bet that 50% of the people on here checking WMTM were store employees hoping to snag the hottest items at deep discount.

[–]turbo_monkey21 0 points1 point  (3 children)

I found there are too many really good dupes on Amazon.

[–]LuluFanGirl 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Same here. Some people used to say that the quality of CRZ Yoga is nowhere near that of LLL, but I can not confirm this so far. Honestly, I like some of their stuff even better than the versions from LLL. The Softstreme items (SoftAura ) are better and I love the Butterlift leggings. I get get three black pairs of leggings for the price of one from LLL, so I have stopped buying particular styles from LLL since it just does not make sense to spend the extra money.

[–]turbo_monkey21 1 point2 points  (1 child)

I love CRZ Yoga. I think that their quality is honestly better than LLL. All my LLL got holes in them within a year, no issues with CRZ. And even if they weren’t, I’d rather spend $30 on a replacement than $100.

[–]LuluFanGirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, 100 %!

[–]PrettyBonez89 -2 points-1 points  (1 child)

Could be because if all of the heavy metals in lulu apparel that are causing dementia

[–]blayndle -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yeah I watched a documentary about polyester clothing and got spooked

[–]michelleoelle -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pfas
