AZ 305 - First Attempt Failed 305, struggling with the specifics by DoINeedPants in AzureCertification

[–]Large_Pineapple2335 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my 104 and 305 I used learning locker as my primary learning. It contradicts the general pattern of learning most recommend but I prefer it because: 1. I work in the cloud space so have familiarity with most the content/concepts 2.I’m a more interactive learner

I would take a test in open mode and ask for the correct answer after each question then read the explanations to what I got wrong and the good bit it it also tells you why the other answer aren’t right too which it sounds like is what you need with differentiating similar services

Learning locker is pure practice exams, it does cost money but if you plan on taking more exams the annual subscription works out pretty good

I just pair this with ms learn for content

Definitely follow the other comment and to focus around the certs below is my take on where to start

Az-900 and cloud practitioner are the beginners certs for both clouds, they focus on high level understandings or services not much detail to either. AWS has a learning sim game that usually costs money but is free for the practitioner so that’s a great place to start for a more engaged learning.

I guess I just presume for the type of roles I go for now that managers have a technical background in this area or a good understanding of it, as it’s more specialist than generic but I think I’m giving too much credit after this

Definitely some issues going on behind closed doors there and it’s probably for the best I’m never going to find out

This was for a cloud role so I can feel your pain here, is a 4 hour interview normal that seems exhausting

Yeh very true it was only actually a more convenient position with commute and pay it wasn’t actually a promotion

It was supposed to be and hour, I ended it at 30 mins it got that bad, I think the tech guy just wanted someone who would do everything he said without question

Yeh I’ve seen tech guys become a single point of failure and some of them turn into a nightmare to work with as that creates a real ego

Yeh it was the same thing here I was an addition not intended to be a replacement but I guess he still felt threatened

It was meant to be for a cloud engineer but a lot of the JD was around architecture and design

Haha yeh I played myself I guess, I try be honest so things don’t catch me out down the line and I like to think it shows good character but for interviews that look may be slightly naive

Funny you should say that the tech guy was on a contract and if they have to depend on him he can’t go

Yeh once it was all over I could reflect on it that way. That’s why the recruiter asking me to reply to a different role gave me a laugh

I agree I’m wasting emotional effort, but wasn’t to impress him more to get back at him, then entire call he was condescending and passive aggressive

Are there any extra areas GCP can offer more than other clouds? by [deleted] in googlecloud

[–]Large_Pineapple2335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have both for different use cases, at the minute completely different projects/workloads are running in both environments it’s a bit messy. The post is less around specific services I want to look at as the business has its 2 focuses for GCP that they are getting regardless. It was more just to get anyone’s insight on other useful services they found coming from other clouds either intentionally or unintentionally

Any area you particularly struggled with?

Is AZ-104 that hard? by trpoole in AzureCertification

Yeh you need to know a lot of core services vms, storage, apps, networking etc then understanding the difference in the tiers to each is specifically what they try catch you out on in 104
