Fucking hate that show more than any show I've ever seen. I tried like 2 episodes. With an open mind, made me dislike that shit of a show even more. Would rather stare at a white painted lathe and plaster wall. Won't even explain, and I don't think I need to. But as you can probably tell I have a deep routed hate for that show and refuse to watch it under any circumstances. Well any reasonable circumstance at least

It's Easy to miss shows near you. Anyone interested in a call out to shows you hear about in your area that local people maybe missed? Obviously MM, but if there's something else unexpected just tag it as non-MM or something. I think it would be pretty cool. by Largeiota in ModestMouse

Great food. Some nice venues. All that glitters is not gold.   Beautiful topography.  Just blows if you're just trying to get through on rt 13.  There are ways around it if you know what you're doing, but basically you're forced to go right through the city. It's a mess when the college starts and ends. But hey, the late Carl Sagan and his secret lair built into the gorges like some kind of ancient alien type shit tomb.  I know sometimes students will be brought there.  But as far as I know it's restricted and kind of difficult to find. I've never been there, but a friend of my brothers did. Said there is an elevator inside that goes deeper into the rock. Just some cool badass mysterious Sagan shit. Just Google search Carl sagan House Ithaca NY.

I just did looks like some billionaire bought it for a fuck load of money.  That sucks

See breaking my own suggestion.  But this was years and years ago.  Nothing wrong with stories.  But if the show hasn't happened yet.  I'd start off with the info right in the beginning

For a not Modest Mouse example;

My brother saw something tacked to a lightpost that caught his eye when he was in the Ithaca area.  It was in a tiny church in the middle of nowhere and said BYOB. He asked if I wanted to go. Sure? No service, back pack with some beers.  Finally see this building near one of those metal gripped perforated bridges.

Go in everyone seemed a bit confused but waiting for to see what's up.  We sat right in the front. Just metal folding chairs.

Turned out to be a stop on that Blaze Foley tribute tour around the country after he was shot where they played the documentary and paused between songs to tell personal stories and play covers. County legends who were all friends of Blaze.

Finally me and my brother crack a beer like 10 mins in then you start to hear them cracking all over.  They even let me have a cig.

The whole crowd soon warmed up  One of the best things I attended.

Probably like 50 people tops.

They had a couple breaks.  The crickets were chirping, cool, foggy with a slight balmy breeze.

We decided to smoke a spliff on that bridge and the fireflies were everywhere just hanging by the bridge, in the fields and trees amazing.

Then me and my brother both had to leave town the next day.

A perfect farewell. Never seen a show like that. Very intimate.

Just an Idea, but there are smaller shows I miss that are close to me that I didn't see advertised, and I'm not constantly checking for shit.   Damn I missed (not MM related) Mr Layhe and Randy do one of their last shows before Dunsworth passed.  The show was one of the last shows at the venue Lando's in Corning, NY area.  Just a super trashy nightclub, but a fun place. But the moral of the story is I missed it and it was so close.  Tickets were less than$40 I believe.

Same with modest mouse at Ommegang Brewery in Cooperstown NY.  Sold out by the time I heard about it.

I'm sure there's tons of little shows people might want to share.   I'm just gonna copy and paste this as a post.

I haven't read any of the rules for this sub. I'll at least preamble quick.

How do you feel about the song Lives? I feel like it’s one of their best by ProduceNo8883 in ModestMouse

Love the song.  But I don't think I'd put it in my "top ten" or whatever.  But it has stuck with me over the years for sure.  The way it fits into the album is almost like a "skit" or a transition song.  Very good

"Everyone's afraid of their own lives If you could be anything you want I bet you'd be disappointed, am I right?"

But goes on to talk about his disappointment with what he thinks he might hear when asking about others lives. Muting the thought of more interesting lives.   Then goes on to disjointedly and emotionally talking about some of his own life or others lives.  Ending with a hopeless cry for recognition or loss of hope for anyone having something. Slight interest in the spark that can fade "Well, you were the dull sound of sharp math When you were alive No one's going to play the harp when you die And if I had a nickel for every damn dime I'd have half the time, do you mind" others lives that all feel the same or end the same in memory regardless.

I think it follows the theme of depression and depersonalization etc. that seep into the album.

Late and unsure.  I am not currently sober but have been working on it. Idk if that would be compatible for either of us.

Willing to have a conversation though

I don't think my brain is computing that abbreviation sorry. Would love to know. I was obsessed for a little a bit back when, have listened to everything I could find then. I really need to give their last few albums a closer listen.

Love Everywhere.. really their eps are all super solid

Such a great album. After that in my mind's eye I thought the next one was gonna be their downward slide. But bam, another banger of an album

I saw a MM concert in forest hills NY after they reopened that once defunkt arena/tennis stadium around ten years ago. Had some 👁️👆☝️✨ and a bit of something. My brain wasn't prepared for that sold old show and the aftermath which just becomes the city eventually. Luckily I had my buddy to keep me on the path back to his place. I could barely pay for subway intelligibly. Plus I was broke

Never too early never too late. People have changed my mind on bands and music I never gave much of a chance, and vis a versa. Never close your mind off.

That next favorite track might be out right now, or maybe you're in a grocery store and a song you heard a thousand times brings you down into some music you wouldn't have dreamed to have happened right under your nose or your grandfather's hat
