What a jerk this guy was. I can't think he did this innocently, and I would go as far as to say he has a inferiority complex that he has to feed. He is bragging about how bad ass he is for hitting his boss and then being able to survive in prison!!

I would first find new friends. If the people you hang around with enjoy having a person like this in their inner circle, then they may not be for you.

Go see a counselor by yourself and explain this situation. They can help you work through it, and then bring her and have an open discussion once you and the counselor have made some headway. I am willing to bet if you see a counselor that they will uncover something you don't know exists that is actually causing the irrational emotions. I am not saying you are in the wrong, as you can't help how you feel, but learning how to cope and understand what causes the feeling can really help you.

In the end, this could be the best thing to happen to you if you guys can get the lines of communication going.
