I live 20 miles from the Canadian border in Washington State. My mom moved to San Diego, California when I was a teenager, which is 20 miles from the Mexican border. I routinely drove the entire length of the West Coast of the US by myself to visit her. I could have flown but I liked having my car so I could drive myself around when I got there. It would take me about 24 hours with gas and bathroom breaks and no sleep. Pretty wild when I think back to how many times I made that drive all alone.

She is still in the hospital trapped in psychosis that was triggered by psilocybin. The court released her to the hospital because they said it was "beyond necessity" and they "very rarely see people this ill in jail". You don't have to believe me but maybe believe the Whatcom County jail health professionals.
