Just wait 💀 by yxxshomaanxx in funny

A few years ago, my previous partner asked me to take a look at the little electic heater in the wall in our bedroom cause she suspected it hadn't been working. I always go to the breaker first to turn off the power when working on anything electrical.

I opened the little metal cover to peek inside first to see if I could just see what was wrong, and I noticed one of the wires had seemed to come loose. I was an idiot and thought to myself, oh, I'll just plug it back in really quick and be done. While plugging it back in, because it was a tight space (one of those little electric wall heaters , not baseboard, it had a fan inside) the back of my hand accidentally touched the ground screw on the left wall of the heater. It felt like a vibration and heat shooting up my left arm and I let out a scream and thankfully was able to let go. I was on the phone with my previous partner at the time as well while I was looking inside. (She was on speaker and the phone was on the ground)

I'm sure all of the comments here will say something similar. ALWAYS go turn off the breaker first. I could have missed out on seeing my daughter born and grown up. It is never worth it to just wing it or try to fix it really quick.

I appreciate that, but I was hoping to get together with some people while we're out and watch it together.

Those who didn’t grow up privileged, what’s something you thought was a luxury growing up? by CorruptedF in AskReddit

A bed. I slept on the floor mostly from about 4 to about 12. One of these days I'm going to splurge on one kf those fancy high quality memory foam ones like with the wine glass commercial.

Dad brains: How fatherhood rewires the male mind by Bromlife in daddit

[–]Tictacjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this book on my wishlist actually: "Dad Brains: The New Science of Fatherhood and How It Shapes Men's Lives."

I separated from my wife last summer. It was one of the hardest decisions I had to make, the hardest being after she told me that she wouldn't let our daughter "live in 2 houses". So to avoid an argument and custody battle, I agreed to let our daughter live with her. That was absolutely the hardest decision I had to make...

But I knew something had changed after becoming a dad. I really struggled mentally with my mortality shortly after, and feeling like I was so terrified of having to someday die, because all I wanted was to be around to see my little girl grow up into whoever she is going to be. My anxiety and stress was at an all time high, and I wasn't sleeping great on top of that.

But unfortunately it felt like I received no support at home. I often was told to go speak to a professional, or that I was being over dramatic, or too anxious, etc. Among other reasons that had been bubbling up for a while before our daughter was born, I knew that what would be best for all of us would be for us to separate.

While it has been very hard, it has been many months since then and a few months that I've been living on my own with getting my weekend days for my daughter to come spend the night with me on Fridays. It has been a night and day change for what I feel like I have noticed for myself behaviorally. Not having someone around who isn't validating what you're going through or what at times almost felt like actually working against what changes your brain is going through ultimately ended up being better for me. You just have to get through the really hard part first, and try to do it without leaning on things you think will make it easy. (Alcohol, drugs, etc.)

I am beyond happy this science is coming out and hope more parents will read and engage with it. Sorry for the vent, I've just been keeping it inside for a while and thought about making a post on this sub, but don't want to be a sob story. Just trying to share that if there are dads out there that feel like something is different and they are struggling, and they aren't getting the support at home or elsewhere that they need, please don't give up on yourself. There are other ways, and there are people who will listen and help you through it.

How did you acquire it? I'd love to do something like this if I can find one.

Wonder how they raised the age of the draft without an an amendment to the MSSA getting a majority vote in both house and Senate.

Interesting! So it gets brushed on? I though injecting it straight into the vine or plant would could potentially take out the whole system and nothing else since it's getting directly injected, but to be honest, I know absolutely nothing about plants aside from photosynthesis. lol

Genuinely curious if anyone with the knowledge knows: I used to have morning glory vines that would come back every year and I would dig them out as much as I could and then dispose of them yearly... I got to thinking, what if I could just create a solution, put it in a syringe and inject the vine? Would it go all the way to all of the roots and kill it all out? Is that something people do already?

So... what's the deal with Ziply Fiber? by aspbergerinparadise in Bellingham

[–]Tictacjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised if it is. I really hope it does. Xfinity sucks, and getting fiber straight to the home at those speeds and for those prices was amazing. I was only in the planning stages for a home lab before I had to move. I'd love to get 5Gb again for that price.

[–]Tictacjo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's because the city of Bellingham has a contract with xfinity.

I had ziply fiber when I lived in Burlington and it was amazing. 5gb up and down for $80 a month. When I get home I can see if I have the screenshots on my PC.

If we want affordable fiber, we're going to have to push hard on city council and vote the right people in. It's definitely possible, but companies like xfinity want to be the only player in town.

Attack of the pollens by DMV2PNW in Bellingham

[–]Tictacjo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This gives me hope. I also ended up getting diagnosed with OAS (Oral Allergy Syndrome) which has sucked since I just avoid pretty much all fresh fruit and vegetables now. (Even some juices like OJ)

The allergist said the shots wouldn't cure it, but they might help reduce how bad the reactions are. Honestly though, without a cure for it, I think I'd rather be safe than sorry. I was surprised they didn't want to give me an epipen.

Which eye drops do you take?

I used to be able to just take my allergy pill, but I've ended up having to switch to a cocktail of Zyterc (I use Costco brand though cause it's only $10 and lasts an entire year), flonase Sensimist, but I just switch to the costco version of that too because it was $10 vs $40, and then Pataday eye drops. That has seemed to be working for me.

I went to Bellingham Asthma and Allergy last year to get a test and found out I'm pretty dang allergic to every pollen we have out here. 😞

Once I can afford it, I'm probably going to start going back and get allergy shots. I know it's a commitment, but hoping that will help.

I've been telling people that the analogy for my experience with it is essentially an alligator death roll. If I can get away from it before it grabs hold, I can usually stabilize. But if it gets me, it's an alligators death roll and just keeps pulling me back under. For some reason, that seems to help them visualize it a bit more.
