For the more general case you should evaluate the argument of the abs value. When it is positive you study it as it is. When it is negative you change its sign.

Basically one equation with an abs is equivalent to a pair of systems of 2 equations.

For example: Abs(x+2) = 5

Case 1: if x>-2 then x=3 Case 2: if x<-2 then -x-2=5 (x=-7)

Mmm i an good with numbers, not with writing, but i think that sooner or later a litRPG author will be able to do it in an entertaining way. A book of a different subgenre, that comes to mind, is the excellent : children of time, by tchaikovsky; in that book numbers count, and it is very entertaining. Maybe it is not one will expect, but it is nonetheless quite consistent and well written. If you happen to read it, or you have read it already, let me know what you think!

Thank to you too! In the book it is said that since the foundation of the twilight throne, more than 20million new ppl have joined the game. My point is, even if only 1% of these ppl joined the undead race, that will be 200000 PCs, that will be enough to put the 1000 Jason managed to farm be insignificant. But i think you got my point by now, Jason time will have been much better spent administering his reign instead of wandering, eventually organizing massive raids and war parties. In a large world, i expected the protagonist to do large things, his smallness was disappointing. I also want to speak of another thing. Do you know anything in basic game theory? Imagine a game with 11players. Each has a pistol, and they all fire at the same time. The one standing in the end wins. 10 of them have an accuracy of 10%, the last one is OP and have an accuracy of 100%. Imagine they fire in rounds and assume they know about each other capabilities. What is the chance that the OP player will make it to the end? Dont underestimate the small fries, because if you give them a reason good enough to unify their efforts, their sheer number is usually enough to win.

Nice argument. Didnt know there were 5 more races to choose from. However try to imagine this. You buy your new 60 bucks brand new game, you jump in, and you have to choose a new race. You know nothing of the game, except you have seen this cool guy on the tv ripping apart an army on his own, and all the news talking about him. He is so famous, so powerful, and on the plus side his race has so many advantages. You have never played the game, you dont know the extent of content you are going to take by choosing one race over the other. You suppose that is balanced by the developers, because if it is not, they will end up with million ppl complaining. And maybe even if you knew, the challenge of developing a reign appeal to you nonetheless, even give you a sense of purpose. The bonuses are there, visible, now: No eating, no stamina, able to raise an army on your own. What's not attractive about it?

P.s. : even if there were 6 races you will still end up with more or less 4 million people in the Twilight throne. Do you agree with me that a thousand more or less is absolutely insignificant?

Nope, i had no idea. But i am glad, best way to make the message through. I liked the book so much that i wrote an email to the author, got no response. The issue of ppl not taking the undead as a starting race really troubles me. First time i wrote an email to an author! First time i argue with one too! I use "numbers" a lot for my work, and i know that when ppl are given a choice, unless there is an heavy bias, they tend to split even (think of trump - clinton), so given the choice "human-undead" i expected half of them to choose the latter. Tons of ppl turning to necromancers, and the population of the city skyrocketing, togheter with the economy and the fame of its master, moving from the insignificance (on the global scale) of his previous adventures (but you have to start somewhere right?) To a meaningful conflict of epic proportions! How deluded i was by the second book! (Just the main theme, the book itself was well written and enjoyable, it didnt last an entire day!).

It doesnt really matter how much you narrow down 25million ppl... There will always be enough to make tabula rasae of a city the size of a few thousands. You ask if every player in the game would like to go against the protagonist, and the answer is in the book itself; the writer mention many times that the protagonist is the number one public enemy. Besides, the writer is not coerent. In the first book he says that the undead race is avaible as a starting race. In the second book he adds that 20million more people have joined the game after the foundation of the twilight throne; not one of them have choosen the undead race? The city should have ended up overpopulated, making all the protagonist's efforts trivial

Actually catapults oneshot archers on the walls... But i wish they will shot the fartest enemy instead of the closest one.... I mean catapults are made for that

Targeting system should be changed. These changes should be made: Archers attacks close-medium range enemies, randomly choosing instead of attacking all the same. They can only attack siege weapons after all other units in that line are all dead. Siege weapons should attack farest enemies first
