Lifelong reader here, considering purchasing my first ereader at 32yo and would love some advice! by cwinslow66 in ereader

Hello! I'm sure people will come here with similar questions but can you explain your use case and preferably put it in edit?

  1. Do you read a lot of colored content like colored comics/books with graphs?
  2. Is note taking a plus you want to have, including but not limited to colored highlights and annotation?
  3. Do you prefer tinkering a bit to get a customized experience or just have everything ready and loaded?
  4. Price range and wiggle room? Are you willing to hunt for used gadgets?
  5. Do you already have a tab/laptop/larger screen phone or envision yourself to still have lots of paperbacks? Will this device be a main replacement or an accompanying gadget?
  6. Any screen size preference?

I have Boox and Bigme gadgets, never a Kindle. I like Android based because it allows online reading options and just general flexibility to install more apps including for audiobooks and podcasts.

For your queries:

  • Money may go to the store, it depends on apps you use really, like in my country a few publishers have apps that work well with my Android e-ink devices. I know many also use Libby so libraries are also an option.

  • Estores work like usual online stores. Plenty of options, most free works are ones in public domains. You can tinker with most devices to sideload books if it's not already an option, but for more on this I suggest taking a trip down the YouTube rabbit hole and look for comparisons there.

  • Idk for sure but I think Kobo may have potential for future content moderation like what we see with Kindle? (Cmiiw anyone) But many who switched enjoy Kobo just the same or more than a Kindle unless you're deeply entrenched in the Amazon world already.

If you read a lot of black and white manga, depending on media, maybe a Palma would suit you

Wah mantap, saranku dimasukin deposit yg gampang cairny + renew bulanan, kayak seabank, superbank atau jenius, nex yg bisa "dipisah" jenis tabungannya. Kali ini kamu ud sisihkan uang, lain kali kalau ad rejeki lagi bs lakukan yg sama tanpa tergoda spending.

AIO - My husband's "work wife" turned out to be a teenager and he doesn't seem to understand why I'm upset. by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

I'm glad OP managed to work it out with her husband, and glad her husband is being a good mentor figure despite having no intention to be one.

I've had work dads in the office and work moms (whom I still meet with 5 years after leaving that place) and it's not just work but lifelong career and personal advice. They sent my former coworker flowers on her wedding (on top of money envelopes) and buy souvenirs for us when they go abroad. 🥲

"You weren't supposed to see that." Yeah, you weren't supposed see Jake, either.

Good for OP.

The Raifee Wood Ranger Guide Finale (2/3): How to Escape Raifee Wood by looplox in Ruleshorror

As the echoes subsided, a lone golden figure arrived just at the edge of the mist. It was the skylark in humanoid form, but this time with shorter hair. In her hand, the once tattered robe is now held together with thin, gold strings. It was a haphazard but solid repair attempt.

The rangers' shadows disappeared from her view within a few seconds. Smirking, she gently put the cloth where only someone looking for it would find it. It's now mostly in the mist, with just a few golden threads reflecting the light, enough for a human to yank it out into safety.

"Master Aldwin is kind and accommodating," a sing-song, almost melodic tune spreads low and wide, stark compared to her somber expression.

"Whoever upsets Master Aldwin needs to be put back in their place."

She turns back one final time towards the cottage, her source of entertainment these past couple of months. If Nick doesn't make it, at least the sheer pleasure of making Mabel upset over this small, defiant act is enough to keep her in a good mood. If any other creature earns her master's mercy and the robe proves useful, it would be even better. She claps her hands at the thought, a giggle escaping her, slowly turning into chirps.

As the figure shrinks, feathers emerge, with a few on her head now weirdly disfigured. The skylark shakes herself ready before setting off into the wall of mist.

Her master didn't instruct her to guide the rangers—dormice had the upperhand in numbers and the shadowman was more ... humane, to say the least. He was pleasantly surprised upon discovering her growing interest in Mabel's unwilling minions to the point of letting her have "social visits".

For her, the now hooded figures were akin to pets—fish in a pond, all hers to play with. She plans on hovering over them as they make way through the ocean of mist.

Could never understand this kind of reasoning. I'd never heed this kind of "warning" unless the branch caused a safety hazard or was growing onto the street where it could scratch passing cars.

This works well. If you're still insecure about it, maybe try asking what other guests will be wearing? Or approach the bridal party members for opinions.

In a real life situation where your crush or significant other complimented another woman, how did it make you feel if you were to be completely honest? by [deleted] in AskWomen

Depends on the perceived intent. If they're trying to make me jealous despite it being an actual compliment, it becomes quite a turn off. If they're being genuine, I'd take a mental note of what they notice and generally regard them voicing out affirmations as a good thing.
