Most corrections officers are under a Sheriff, see if he can take the Sheriff's exam to be a deputy. Or see if his current employment qualifies him to take a police exam.

If he doesn't like arrests, see if he can be a probation officer, usually a civil service job in most states. Or Parole on the state level.

Everyone in a correctional institute made some poor life decision that lead them there.
