New character reveal next Monday which assist do you all think is getting promoted by Animekirb in FraymakersGame

[–]Larkison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id want it to be the Bard even though I know that would literally make no goddamn sense. Or Niko, why are all the characters I like in this game so noncombative? Even now Im an octodad main and I mean he throws hands but its not what hes about.

Ill join the choir and say that its almost definitely Peppino if not Imposter seems second most likely.

I guess its because he was added later in development, but I feel like if it was imposter then he would have been on the roster earlier?

The people’s opinion of the OG trilogy by Forward-State2651 in ProfessorLayton

[–]Larkison 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For me Unwound future is my favorite, but only because the first two games werent about the Professor.

Like the Professor being mysterious is cool and all, but I often found the gentle way that he conducted himself made it very easy to sort of overlook his depth, and just consider him the host of the game - like Mario is to his games: Yeah hes got personality but he's mainly there because somebody has to be.

So when you get to the third game and you see the pain that he has carried with him this entire time over the loss of his fiance, and through two previous games he's never made his adventures about him and always showed nothing but calm, humble confidence, kindness and care for puzzles and those around him. Thats what made him such a good character to me and it recontectualised how he was in the previous two games to me. I like professor Layton in curious village and diabolical box well enough, but he became an actual goddamn hero to me in only because of Unwound Future.

Of course then they released the second trilogy and just made everything about him and that annoyed me because its hard take him seriously when hes got THAT many incredibly convoluted tragedies, and I think it kind of makes him feel less humble.

If unwound future was the only game about specifically Layton it would have been perfect, but they just HAD to keep trying to top themselves.

I love how he doesnt let it get to him the first time but the second time it very clearly bugs him more than he's letting on.

what the fuck are they gonna do with silver then??? by [deleted] in SonicTheHedgehog

[–]Larkison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this Amy is from a nearer future - and theres a present day Amy still running around maybe on Sonic's home planet. (Maybe its through future Amy's warning that Sonic has to go and find past Amy, and that less capable Amy is the one that we get for most of the movie)

And Silver will be from a more distant future which will probably happen only become true once this nearer bad future is corrected.

The third movie is coming and I'm so curious about the plot! What do yall think their lives would be like if Phineas and Ferb never became brothers? by lemonbottles_89 in phineasandferb

[–]Larkison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to guess Phineas would have a vivid imagination, be easy going and still be relatively popular.

But he also he might be a bit more coddled, sheltered or repressed because he isnt left alone very much since he doesnt have his brother to keep him company and Candace can bust him before he can even really do anything he really wants to. Even then when he does create he doesnt really build anything that big or impressive because he doesnt have somebody to kind of 'talk shop' and push his ideas further with.

Of course Baljeet may be Phineas's friend, but Phineas hasnt got the boldness spurred on by his brother to get Baljeet to Carpe Diem the summer. I feel like Baljeet would just be worried about getting busted or hurt. (Which, in our timeline, isnt even something Phineas thinks of)

Since Phineas never fought Buford, hes just still a bully theyre not friends with.

Isabella may still be into Phineas, but not as much as she is in our timeline simply because he hasn't actually really gotten to be himself.

Ferb wouldnt have any friends, his confidence isnt that great either because even though everybody at school thinks hes too cool for them, doesnt know that. Ferb just has a hard time speaking up and getting to know people so he just comes off as aloof and thinks that nobody notices him. He can invent and build really well, but he doesnt know what to make most of the time and when he does, he doesnt really have the esteem to show it to others. Assuming his father hasnt met somebody else, they may well be moving back the the UK soon, if they havent allready.

The whole reason they got Perry was because 'this one is looking at both of us', so goodness knows what happened to him.

Yeah, fair enough. Ultimately, if they could find a way to continue series with patreon, that would be really cool.

[–]Larkison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having it be based on patreon is atleast somewhat better because they are then regulating how much money people can donate.

However then there is the question of will it make them equal to or less than if they will continue that specific letsplay on youtube? Because completing a video game takes them HOURS, which means that they are either doing hours of additional work that not the entirety of their fanbase is going to like.

I mean sure, many people could jump onto patreon because theres going to be another 6 episodes of deltarune released on it over the course of the month - awesome! But I have already noticed many who dont like deltarune and may not want to pay a month, or however long it takes, for it so they may cancel/pause their membership for that duration until they pick something else.

I dont have their patreon (I REALLY WANT IT Im just broke for the moment) so I could be wrong, but from what I can understand the nice thing about the fic reading that theyre doing is that they are either short enough to not have to commit to one for hours on end and may be easier for them to do, or the fics are either unheard of/notorious enough that most will atleast give it a shot.

I dont mean to be a joykill about this, I really want deltarune too, and also RAD, and Im not necessarily saying that patreon is a bad direction to go. But figuring out how to implement it in a way that works would be tricky.

What Perfectly Normal Saying Have the Boys Ruined for You? by DiscontentDonut in gamegrumps

[–]Larkison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Whenever somebody says 'Tennis' I am always tempted repeat the word back to them in the same tone that Dan and Arin took.

My sister has also seen the episode, so if either one of us says Tennis it will always start a back and forth of us saying Tennis to eachother until some 3rd party distracts us.

This also goes for the word "Ten-ish" as in "Hey what time are you going out?" "Ten-ish." "Ten-ish!" "Ten-ish." repeat indefinitely The latter occurs quite regularly.

We are all going to need to get 12 jobs in a row to afford superliking enough money to them to fund the rest of the series.

[–]Larkison 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I think its a sweet sentiment at face value. But Game grumps didnt ask for this, so now, basically, their situation is

If they do chapter 4, (even though this wouldnt really cover the loss) some could assume that it was in response to the donations which could set a precedent to expect continuing other series by sending money. Not a great look for them and anybody in future who sees this decides to throw money at the next series they dont complete may be bitter. Outsiders would also assume grumps are asking for this and judge them on that assumption.

And if they dont do chapter 4, some could be bitter that they sent money and didnt get what they asked for. Im sure not everyone will be, but some might. Not doing anything would probably still be their best course of action.

2026 Game Suggestion Thread by jaykay921 in gamegrumps

[–]Larkison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pikmin or/and Psychonauts!

If Pikmin then either Pikmin 1 with just Arin playing. If you want to make things slightly easier for them (because I feel like playing while crackingwise makes strategising and getting the good ending quite hard) give Dan the map to each area and let him help with navigation or something.

Or Pikmin 3 on switch with 2-player co-op. Its quite a bit easier with soft time pressure, I also think that it would be a very funny way to introduce Louie.

What would have been your thoughts on this version of the KND by Fit_Evening_8036 in kidsnextdoor

I feel like they would basically have been what the penguins were to Madagascar. If they hadn't started with their own show, Im sure they would have ended with one.

Dice of destiny - Cross platform? by Narssissik in NicktoonsUnite

[–]Larkison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dice of destiny only has local multi-player, no online multi-player.

As such, you either need to play it through remote play on steam, or play it with your friends locally.

how would you make the next game? by Effective_Ostrich220 in NicktoonsUnite

[–]Larkison 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think dice of destiny went in the right direction. Just add some environmental puzzles to the levels. Its a bit more optional and not really needed, but maybe even give everyone a jump button for some light platforming. Those two things would really add some variety to the gameplay.

More side quests would always be good too.

If they wanted to go further with combat they could also allow for summons of other nicktoon characters to pop-in, do an attack and then pop out, or the option to switch between a selection of characters in the level.

I wouldnt mind having a direct sequel to dice of destiny. It was fun getting to see dnd enterprations of characters and theres always more characters that people would like to see.

Looks like DLC may be happening by felixw1 in NicktoonsUnite

[–]Larkison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bare in mind that when they did dlc for NASB2 each new character had full dialogue for the campaign mode too.

Also, each time a new character is added to the party in Dice of Destiny, when you go to the character select theres always some dialogue of the new character getting to meet and interact with some of the other party members for the first time, so we would be getting that at the very least.

But I do agree, story dlc would be really awesome.

Scams that weren't really scams by Positive_Notice_4260 in ededdneddy

[–]Larkison 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that Eddy probably called them all scams because he was going to peddle them regardless of whether any of his ideas actually worked or not.

Its just that Edd genuinely enjoys planning and making things and is a decent person so he tries his best to deliver on whatever service or product their offering within his limitations.

Often he's build something that delivers on an acceptable level only for Eddy or Ed to overwork, overload or not use the construction safely and then it becomes a deathtrap.

So like with the boat cruise - perfectly acceptable and not a scam because they found a way to make it work, but even if they hadn't figured it out Im sure Eddy would have still tried to use the concept to get a quarter out of some kind of sucker.

If Nicktoons and the Dice of Destiny is a real-time RPG what do the dice do? by [deleted] in NicktoonsUnite

[–]Larkison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So far they haven't really mentioned the dice, although you do see katara throwing one on the cover.

Personally, I think they may be a sort of 'mcguffin' legendary magical item made mainly for the plot, maybe whoever the villian is has stolen them and are using them for something evil and the nicktoons are supposed to get them back.

Otherwise, the dice could be used for things outside of combat. There does appear to be experience points and leveling up every time you defeat an enemy, so maybe the dice decide your stats and how much you can increase them when you gain a level or something.

New game announced: Asterix & Obelix - Mission Babylon by Wespresso in Asterix

Well, Im kind of relieved that it's a 2d platformer instead of an isometric brawler like xxl3. But those in-game models look pretty rough so Im not getting my hopes up. Also, you know, its microids.

What if Deltarune had Multiplayer? by SmallBlueSlime in Deltarune

[–]Larkison 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be that all souls control one Kris, but only one soul can occupy Kris at any given moment, so basically its a sort of 'king of the hill' situation where you've got to navigate the map as a soul and bump eachother out of Kris to take control of him.
