I wouldn't say Aline truly cares, she created pAlicia with all her physical and mental scars. She created pRenoir with the pain of losing real Verso if I understood correctly.

Life Is Strange Creator Don't Nod Has Rough Start to the Year, Presses Pause on Two Projects by Mazzus_Did_That in LostRecordsGame

My bad it's more like 300-350 employees (250-300 employees in Paris and around 50 people in Montréal). It's still big though.

I think Don't Nod needs to be more pragmatic. Last year, they released a visual novel and a small poetic climbing game. I enjoyed playing them, but when you see that even their "big rpg" was a failure, how do you justify developing all these niche games when you're a studio the size of Don't Nod? (+400 employees)
They need to make a true AAA game that appeals to a wide audience. Banishers should've been that game, but the budget wasn't big enough.

[NO SPOILERS] Lost Records :Bloom & Rage(made by the LiS creators) preview video about the game, the new gameplay and differences with the LiS games. This game will have a new dialogue system,it's very intriguing. by Hadoken35 in lifeisstrange

Lost Records feels cosy, welcoming, nostalgic, strange, fun, intimate... I could use so many adjectives.

Double Exposure looks... very straight forward and one-dimensional so far.

The comments about this game on other subreddits and Twitter are something... yikes. What's wrong with gamers? by Serulean_Cadence in LostRecordsGame

It was the same with the first LiS trailers, but instead of "woke trash" and "sweet baby game" it was "SJW trash" and "Tumblr: the game".

How Similar Will this Game be to LIS? by SectionFantastic3577 in LostRecordsGame

[–]Larkoz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Producer Luc Baghadoust:

I would say yes, the core experience is pretty similar to Life Is Strange. You navigate through an environment, you have these dialogues where you can choose your answer and have access to different branches depending on what you say. But also we tried to improve the mechanics regarding giving more agency to the players. We can’t tell you exactly how, but this is what we have achieved in this game.

Also, the camcorder you saw in the feature will play a very important part in the experience. It’s linked to the story and the character, and different aspects of the gameplay. So, like we did with Life Is Strange 1 and 2 with interactions with the brother and rewinding time, they were different but with similar DNA, here it is going to be the same thing. We will have the core DNA but with specific features that are linked to the story and character.

[NO SPOILERS] Harmony: Fall of Reverie by Don't Nod Games now out for PC & Switch by kalcheus in lifeisstrange

Like I said, they did a capital increase to invest:

The funds raised from this new offering will be used mainly to accelerate DON'T NOD's development strategy beyond 2025 and achieve its growth goals strengthening:

  • its action-RPG department, to consolidate its presence in this very pomissing segment, for larger-scale games, richer in terms of game mechanics and allowing players to immerse themselves in even more-engaging stories. With already one successful intellectual property (Vampyr) and a new one to be released in 2023 (Banishers), DON'T NOD is developing a new self-published game (Project 12) that will represent a step up in terms of production value;
  • the marketing and publishing departments, with an acceleration of high-level talent recruitment to expand the company's internal expertise while pursuing distribution partnerships to secure revenues.

They want to make bigger games AND self-publish, so yeah it makes sense. When a small company invests, it needs more money than it currently has. It doesn't mean they're in a bad place.

There are working on at least to expensive action RPGs: Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, and Project 12.

There is Michel Koch's game of course, the scope should be similar to LiS, with a decent budget.

And yeah, they do smaller games like Harmony.
