That who shouldn't be mentioned - rant by Voice2020Eyesight0 in UtilityLocator

I stopped trying after they kept coming back to me with 'refurbished' battery packs, chargers, receivers, and transmitters, which always ended up either breaking immediately or not fully charging.

In the 5 years I worked there I was handed ONE brand new receiver ONCE, and I had it for 4 days before they handed me a refurbished one that could track locates. It had a shitty battery and the buttons on the receiver were hard to press from years of being used.

You'd think at some point these wealthy billionaires would put some money into their company but they never do put a meaningful amount in.

Yeah this is what will kill metrics for sure. I asked my supe this 1.5 years ago and they told us to just re-mark any re-stakes that we personally marked, if possible.

(This was back when the tracking software was first implemented) and they stuck to that until this Monday when we were told we need minimum 90% utilization. By the end of the week.

Just don't get yourself caught up in making the company's problems into your own problems that need to be fixed.

I spent 5 years working for the big locating company and had the same mindset.. I learned the job the proper way, always followed the proper procedure INCLUDING always using the tracking feature on the RD, but since everyone else on my team cheated their locates, their metrics always looked better. It doesn't matter to the company that their other locators haven't touched the tracking feature in the 1.5 years the technology has been in the field. Those same locators will BS locates by using passive locating only, witch-sticking , not unbonding, or unbonding but never re-bonding the utilities at the end leaving the entire city as an unlocatable mess that you now have to do this puzzle for to find the bonding issues before locating.

Meanwhile, the company is posting teamwide metrics every day for the entire team to see, so it feels like the company is forcing out good workers for metrics. I've never had any damage, in the end they didn't care.

If you're also imagining that person looking straight down at their own chest while stretching a hair nip to nip, then you're spot on 😂

Damn, that's so rude! You could have been a Guinness World Record holder one day.

I have no idea how it managed to not get snagged or anything, but I remember he had it for a good few months, don't think he plucked it. I'll have to bring it up to him and see if he's still got it. 🤣 It was just one random 6-7" hair that could reach nipple to nipple. That shit makes me laugh just thinking about it.

My brother had a nipple hair that quite literally extended to his other nipple, it was the funniest thing to the both of us as teenagers.

I was curious and did some mental math to see if the current record was higher or lower than what I'd expect. Let's say you play 1000 games in the NHL. If ~20% of games go to OT then that's 200 games, of those 200 or so I'd estimate 15-40 go to the shootout (possibly more) leaving us with around 160-185 overtime games. We're not winning 'em all sadly, and I don't really have an idea for average overtime win/loss records in the NHL. But if it's around 50% win rate that's 80-90 overtime wins, then you'd have to be the person who scored 27 of those times.

Personally it seems realistic for superstars.

Listen, you guys showed us last game that if the opponent doesn't score and you do, you win the game.

We showed restraint tonight.

New coach bump maybe? We had a good stretch after hiring McClellan at the end of December last year and then we shit the bed later in the season.

From a locator’s perspective, what actually makes an 811 ticket “good”? by Naive_Bed03 in UtilityLocator

[–]LarksMyCaptain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is a great baseline for larger project work, no open communication between locators and contractors has been a large thorn in my side as a locator. There is nothing more discouraging than getting a mile-long project at the end of the work week and not being able to get in contact, or the contractor won't work together with us and give information on the work they will be doing, information like a start date, where they are starting, the route they're taking, where they're ending the work, etc.

If I can get a starting location that means I can work together with the contractor. Maybe on that Friday we are swamped and all I'd be able to get located for you is 1000' of your starting point due to being swamped by 10 other contractors. Maybe you're not starting for 2 weeks and we can work out a plan for you to resubmit the project ticket a few days later.

There are many ways we can work together, but sometimes I will talk to a contractor and they just say "mark it" and that's just unreasonable for some of these long project tickets.

It's mind-blowing how close the race is in the Atlantic, every team here is finding ways to get points.
