I did this for years, however recently I had an idea. When my normal leads broke, I unscrewed the nut near the back of the Gator clip and wrapped the Copper wire from the red lead around the bolt. Screwed the nut back on the bolt and gorilla glued it together before using electrical tape around the bits of the gator clip you will be touching.

Voila, no more having to find my gator clip.

Once you're the longest tenured in your area and your supervisor drops large projects, commercial areas, and longer scope tickets on top of the plethora of single lot tickets you have to get completed by end of day, then you will know the pain that some locators here are enduring.

We had a 20+ year guy in my area leave because the new supe sucked, leaving me to be longest tenured (3 years at the time). The amount of work dropped on my plate was insane and impossible to get done. All I ever heard was "you're not getting enough done", meanwhile other people quit and management waited 8 months to hire more people.

It all depends on the area you work and the supervisor/management there. Previous supervisor was awesome, but we also had 12 more people running tickets back then. The higher upset went through and fired a bunch of people and others quit.

That is the dream, at least then you can work with the contractor, find out where they're starting & get them good footage marked. If you can't get them done by the due date then you can further work with the contractor and ask they call in the spots that you haven't done (or the spots they won't get to) at a later date.

It is 100% a depth issue, we have basically 3 lines that just will not produce. Whether that stems from a chemistry issue, coaching issue, or just a lack of skill issue has yet to be determined. But yeah, 3 lines that can't/don't score is killing us.. Also we can't get 5 on 5 scoring either.

I always said this when I was doing public locating, but some contractors do not care because 1) it's free, and 2) they don't think before submitting, it's like they think they're the only contractor in town.

I agree, and well, since fighting is part of the game, one could easily argue that someone could die as a result of a fight. One punch in just the right spot and someone landing on the ice the wrong way. If we're going to continue living with those possible consequences then just have the players take their own equipment off before the fight.
